Is God calling you?

(Seeking God Part 1)

If you are seeking God, then you ought to know something before you carry on with your quest – no person can seek God unless He places such a desire in his/her heart to start with.

The next thing to understand is that simply knowing facts about God will do nothing for you.  What matters is your relationship to Him, a relationship you can only have if you are saved.  (Keep reading and you will learn what ‘being saved’ actually means).

Many churches and preachers will tell you that you merely have to choose Jesus Christ as your Saviour.  They might give a long list of ‘benefits’ you will receive if only you ‘make a decision for Jesus’.... get rid of your depression, or that drug habit, or years of doubt, or insecurity.  They might even say you will know financial increase, or your health will get better.

Well, we cannot tell you that, because God’s word (the Bible) does not say any of these things in relation to being saved.  What does the Bible really say about it?  Yes, you must be ‘saved’ and you must follow Jesus Christ...but the present idea of ‘choose it and get it’ is entirely wrong.

If you don’t want to be fooled by men’s ideas, but you are truly seeking God, then we ask you to consider what God really says.  What He says about being saved is only found in His word, the Bible.

Basically, only God can save us.  We do not have free will – free will is a myth invented by men to make themselves feel more important than they are.  This means no person can choose to be saved.

It also means that if you are seeking God, you are doing so because He has planted the desire in your heart in the first place.  Even if you are only curious, it is God Who makes you curious!

To be saved is to be utterly convinced that you are sinful – that in God’s eyes you are a sinner who will enter hell if you are not saved.  This is very heady stuff to think about!  If you cannot take what has been said so far, then maybe you are not seeking God after all.

But, if after knowing this basic fact about yourself, you still want the truth, and want to know about being saved, then read to the end of this message. You will get tough but honest talk, not fiction or human ideas. We want nothing from you and we won’t pester you with pleas or emotional nonsense.  If God is truly calling you, then you will find Him!

If, however, you find these few words distasteful, then this is where we part company, for you certainly will not like the rest of what will be said.
