True or False?

In our Publications List we have two articles – the Cardinal’s Oath and the Jesuit Oath. Recently, I received a rather vitriolic email that tells me both Oaths are false, and are lies spread by…whoever.

The critic said that they were circulated in the USA by malicious opponents of Rome.

He even gave me a reference to look up. But, there I see a problem, for Jesuits are taught to get their own way by hook or by crook. They may lie their heads off and even denigrate their own mother church, if, by doing so, they can cause someone to join them. And Jesuits are often, historically, the assassins of Rome.

Now, how do I know if my critic is not a Jesuit? After all, I have had many Roman priests and seminarians oppose me in the past. And how do I know if the original critic in the USA was not a Jesuit? After all, they use subterfuge and cunning to get their message across. They will even disclaim their own oaths (assuming the oaths to be true). Are they true? I have no idea. They came to me via a reputable source and no Roman Catholic has disclaimed them!

I have decided to leave both Oaths on our List. If they are false, then they can remain anyway, as examples of folly. But if they are true, I would expect cunning Romanists to try to get them removed.

True or false, I can say this – if they are false, it is strange that the contents point exactly to what Romanists are really like and what they have got up to in the past! So, if they are not really oaths taken by Jesuits or Cardinals, they differ only in words used, for the subject matter remains an accurate portrayal of Romanist sin and evil.

Shared Schools

Local councils pay for Catholic schools out of our taxes. In Scotland Edinburgh has had a shared school for Protestant and Catholic children for over 40 years. Recently archbishop Conti argued against shared schools, though this was denied later.

Having taught in a Catholic school against my will, as a student teacher, I must say that, in the main, there are no real differences in subjects, etc. However, the children and staff (except for me) had to attend the Catholic mass in the morning, and history books were written from a Catholic slant. This is bound to influence Protestants to some degree, if schools are shared. (The Universe, March).

Crocodile Tears

It seems that not all RCC archbishops are daft! Archbishop Hickey of Perth declared that a crying Madonna in Western Australia may not, after all, be a miracle – tests showed that the ‘tears’ were made up of rose and vegetable oil. (TotalCatholic.com).

However thousands of pilgrims had already seen the ‘tears’ by then. The Archbishop, though, has stopped short of calling it a hoax. Strange folk!

Russia to Fall Again

A while ago we mentioned the row between the Russian Orthodox patriarch and the pope, because Rome created more RC dioceses in Russia. It now seems that there will be a ‘dramatic’ change in relationships very soon, with a proposed visit by the pope.

Russia fell to revolutionaries, then to Stalin, then to a succession of communist rulers. Now it will fall to Rome with the blessing of its own government.

Russian Orthodoxy is no more Christian than the RCC, but at least it was not under the Roman yoke. Russia itself sees Rome as a legitimate state and has dialogue with its officials. Yet, when the new dioceses were publicised, an RC bishop and four Catholic priests were expelled. Russia is now willing to accept new priests.

Those within the Orthodox church are not too keen on the improved relationships, saying that the pope has made no real moves to dispel Orthodox fears. What do they expect from their enemy?

On the Move Again!

Catholic peer, Lord Brennan, is calling on Catholics to be more active in UK politics, to counter the ‘suppression by Protestantism’. (The Universe, March).

He believes that suppression still occurs and so Catholic MP’s have to “take a subtle approach to applying church teaching to public policy.” Friends, when Lord Alton led the way in the fight against abortion, he was not just fighting against murder – he was fighting to make the law Catholic!

Brennan says MP’s introduce Catholic teaching, but do not say it is Catholic, so that Catholic laws can be passed. Brennan considers it “an insult to be treated as if Catholicism is a misguided faith.” Well, it is!

He says 15% to 20% of all MP’s are Catholic, but only about 50 of them are “true Catholics”. Notice, as we have pointed out before, that the term ‘Catholic’ and not ‘Christian’ is used?

Gunpowder plots and other deathly ventures caused Catholics to be denied a voice in the past. Now, the RCC will gain in influence without a trace of violence.

A Laundered Response?

A film called ‘The Magdalene Sisters’, about the cruelty inflicted by RC nuns in a laundry staffed by young girls, was criticised by the RCC as a ‘fabrication’. The film’s maker denies this and called the criticism ‘absurd and insulting’. (TotalCatholic.com).

Cruelty by nuns is well-known. Staff who work for me, and who were brought up or taught by nuns, speak only of their cruelty! So do others I know.

The nursing home I work in was originally run by nuns who looked after orphans. They sent many abroad to Canada and Australia, and they, too, have spoken of cruelty inflicted upon them.

Recently, we even had investigators around who searched the area where rubbish was burned all those years ago, and asking if we knew the whereabouts of certain individual orphans. You can draw your own conclusions from this (I know what they were looking for but don’t wish to attract a legal battle!).

Cruelty is part of Catholic life, just as it is in true Islam. In a way, then, the efforts made by the RCC to stop abortion, and to create ‘peace’, etc., is a farce.

Let’s Feed Saddam

The naivete of some Christians is remarkable. The same goes for Catholics. Our friend, and spiritual ‘expert’, Dr Tony Campolo, speaking in Canada, claims that Saddam would be toppled by a huge influx of ‘Christian’ (i.e. Catholic) food and medical aid into Iraq.

Where do these pacifists get their ideas from? Do that, and Saddam will eat grandly and pass on the food and medicines to his cronies, not to the people!

Big Number but No Truth

The number of baptised Catholics has risen to over 1 billion worldwide. (Latest Vatican figures – The Universe).

However, the Pontifical Yearbook points out that the increases are in Third World countries – there is a decline in Europe. At least we can be thankful for that!

There are over four million ‘officials’…4649 bishops; 405,067 priests; 29,204 permanent deacons; 54,970 friars and monks; 792,317 nuns, and so on.

A Catholic Wave

The Vatican is concerned by the reports of sharply increasing visions and miracles amongst its faithful, so it is forming guidelines for priests. They are concerned because this ‘wave’ is producing strong followings and even rebellion against bishops. (Oh dear!). (TotalCatholic.com).

In particular, there are now many Marian apparitions. The real problem for Rome is that lay people are seeming to over-ride the warnings of bishops.

Christians should see all this as consistent with the charismatic ‘waves’, because the effect is the same – visions and miracles that are not from God.

Catholics and Refugees

Bishop O’Donoghue has called for dignity and respect to be shown toward asylum seekers. I agree that we must treat everyone with dignity, but respect has to be earned! How can I respect either the religion or the activities of illegal immigrants, many of whom are terrorists or criminals?

Catholic leaders always welcome a rise in population, because it fuels their power. The good bishop got it wrong!
