The Moluccas War

 Islamic troops are waging war – nothing less than jihad – against Christians, on the 17 Moluccas Islands of Indonesia, not far from New Guinea.

Though not reported in the world news, more than 20,000 Christians have been forced to flee their homes, and about 3,000 have been murdered in the past 14 months!

Local and other Muslims, plus Indonesian troops, are involved, even though Indonesia’s President Wahid has condemned the attacks.  It makes us wonder just how state troops can get away with rampaging and killing without the knowledge of either their commanders or the President!  It would be easy to track down soldiers who are not where they are supposed to be on any one day...unless, of course, the commanders and the President are part of the extermination programme anyway!

It is true that a naval blockade has been ordered to protect the islands – but there is a serious problem when thousands of troops are able to do what they like.

The Moluccas Islands used to be predominantly Christian, but the Christian population did not go around killing their Muslim neighbours. The significant facts in all this are to be found in the words of the news report (Source: Evangelicals Now, May 2000): “The Muslim population has increased in recent years with a ‘radical minority’ causing unrest” .

Why is this significant? It is significant because it is typical. When Islam rises to become the predominant religion in a country, sooner (rather than later) ‘radical minorities’ will insist on Islamic rule, with attendant violence, death and harsh punishments.

The UK has a fast growing Muslim population, most of whom are decent folk who would not harm anyone. But within their numbers are extremists and radicals who believe and want to follow their prophet’s rule – that all non-Muslims are infidels worthy only of death. They already have their own ‘shadow’ government, set up in case they can obtain power. The next step would certainly be a jihad against Christians and others who would not accept Muslim rule.  

Thus, what is now happening in a far off group of islands can be the lot of those of us in the West, if radicals within Islam are allowed freedom to do whatever they like. There is nothing racial about this – it is merely an observation based on what Islam teaches and what it does when it comes to power. I just hope that, in the West, Islamic leaders can control their own extremists...but, sadly, this is unlikely.

The same kind of activity can be found in Roman Catholic dominated countries (such as Mexico), too, so the problem is not confined to Islam. Both have creeds (look at part of the Jesuit creed, as an example, attached to this news item) that advocate the murder of non-adherents.

How different is the command to love our enemies, given by God in the Christian Bible! If those who call themselves Christian resort to violence and mayhem, murder and torture, then we can be assured that the cause is not the Christian scriptures, but the refusal of supposed Christians to live out what God demands. Those who live by what the Bible says will live in peace with their neighbour and will not impose killing or fear upon them. If they step outside that boundary, they cannot claim Biblical law as their excuse.

 The Jesuit Oath

“I now, in the presence of the Almighty God, the blessed virgin Mary, the blessed Michael the Archangel, the blessed St john the Baptist...and my ghostly father, the superior general of the Society of Jesus, founded by  St Ignatius Loyola, do, by the womb of the Virgin...swear...the Church of England...Calvinists, Huguenots, and others of the name of Protestant...to be damnable....I will, when opportunity presents, make and wage relentless war secretly or openly, against all heretics, Protestants...as I am directed to; extirpate them from the face of the earth; and that I will spare neither age, sex, or condition, and that I will hang, burn, waste, boil, flay, strangle and bury alive those infamous heretics; rip up the stomachs and wombs of the women, and crush their infant’s heads against the wall in order to annihilate their execrable race.”

 The above oath has never been revoked.
