Testimonies

Just some bits and pieces to add to the current posting…

How Satan Works

Opposition to God’s work is not always up-front. When a Christian minister is familiar with being attacked openly, demons try to find a more subtle route to his mind.

Critics tell me that if only I was more sensitive to their ears, they would listen to what I had to say. Little do they realise, but they thereby shoot themselves in the foot!

How? Well, if they are able to tell me that, they show they know what I have said. Not to listen, because of my supposed ‘tone’, is to admit to being fickle, and to rejecting God and His word. They have read what God says, but they turn their backs! That is stubbornness, not piety!

So, if you are one who blames me for your rejection of God’s word, take note that it will not wash!

In summation, I see this as a ploy, used by Christians who do not wish to change. It is very convenient to blame another human being for not obeying the Lord! But, it does not cut any ice with God.

Prayer…or Not

Recently, I attended a church in another part of Wales, along with some of my family. I said nothing, but everyone who was with me later commented on the service.

Basically, it was a modern Baptist church, which means it was tainted by charismaticism. Without prompting from me, the family commented on all the (many) features that were unbiblical. (I did not know which ‘persuasion’ it was beforehand).

Part of the meeting centred on prayer – the usual ‘sandwich’. I must tell you that every word uttered by the minister was being analysed unintentionally by my mind and heart, and at every relevant juncture, I recognised the errors prevalent in the churches today – prayer being one of them.

I have been accused of holding ‘personal’ views on prayer meetings, as though scripture had nothing to do with my thinking. But, my views are not my own! I examined every single text in all of scripture, in their languages, before writing my article on prayer meetings. I applied the strictest terms of interpretation. Then, I summated what God’s word says.

So, to be told that such views are ‘personal’ is nonsense and an insult. It is also unscriptural, for those who pray together are in most cases doing so without Biblical warrant. This being so, they will only receive psychological and not spiritual benefits.

Though I find it tiresome to repeat myself, let me remind folk that I have no objection to prayer meetings, so long as they comply with God’s word (which the majority do not). Prayer itself is vital – but not in groups unless every member in the group has been undeniably drawn to pray together over a single urgent issue – as scripture teaches! If critics tell me that this is how it happens, I will be forced to disbelieve them.

I have no doubt that enthusiasts are genuinely sincere, but regularly held prayer meetings are a farce and a denial of the prompting of the Holy Spirit. The church I attended did this, and much I saw and heard was mechanical. It will not take much to push this church into full charismaticism.

This short article is based on  Outline O-0095 publ. date 1999.

Catholicism and Alpha

When I write about Catholicism (see Roman Catholic News, for example) and Alpha, I never write without knowing the facts. I quote from actual RC and Alpha sources. And, as one who has examined both in immense detail over the years, I know a bit about them, especially the more subtle points and meanings.

I say this because some suggest that I know nothing and am merely giving my own jaundiced views. Not so! I am giving facts and my opposition is Biblical not personal.

For example, one who pretended to know his ground told me that I was wrong to say Alpha had any connection with charismaticism!! This was  lamentable, for Alpha came from the same stable in the UK as the Toronto Blessing and all the filth that it unleashed in the name of Christ!

My Aim?

My aim is to comply with the ministry given by God. If this offends, so be it. Christians are free to be critical, but I have no time for nonsense from those who pretend to be superior or pious!

They must give me God’s word PROPERLY quoted and interpreted. Then, I will listen with respect.

The Left Boot of Fellowship

As you all know, the book was published recently and is now available at bookstores, as well as from internet suppliers such as Amazon. I would urge as many as possible to buy it, so that Christians come to know the scriptural way to deal with serious sins within the churches.

Buy it as a present, or send a copy to a Bible college, or get one for the church library. It is readable, for I have used ordinary language in the text.

This is not about earning money, for I deliberately set the price as low as possible. It is about encouraging churches to obey God in this highly contentious matter.

A lighter Note

One of my young nieces wrote the following for her school homework. I am delighted to say that her unbelieving teacher gave her an ‘A’ for it! Do you have the same child-like faith?

“Where did the world come from?

The world was made by God, because how can there be a big bang? Who made animals? God did.

God made everyone. He even made all the kids. All mums and dads. He even made baby kids. He made books, dinosaurs, and He made sweets and chocolate.

And He made all the plants. And He made the stars. And He made the sun and the moon, too.

God made food and water and all different kinds of drinks. God made the world’s different countries, too.

He made all the trees and plants like flowers and grass. He made too the sky. He made our hair as well, and He made our brain.

God is our Father and He will look after us forever. And He made clouds from sky. He made rain. He made wind. He made our name and he made our mums and dads. God made everything.

Charlotte Waddell.”
