A Better Alternative No Christian can deny that the ethos of non-Christians is rooted in an ever-changing need for what is sinful; which is why so many Christian parents are anxious for their children, especially if those youngsters are themselves Christians. Often, I hear worries that Christian children have no alternative to the constant grind of nightclubs, pubs, dances and objectionable music. I have been asked on many occasions – what can our children do? The answer might not be appreciated – the respond of any Christian, of any age, is to remain faithful to God and to the principles He sets forth. That means NOT attending any of the usual ‘leisure’ venues attended by non-Christians. When I was the same age I had nowhere to go, either! I went a few times to a local church hall, just to sit around the edges listening to an aspiring local rock band. The girls and boys sat opposite each other, and all I got out of it was a thumping in my stomach from the repeated ‘boom-boom’ of the base drum, and a deafening of my ears by hyped-sound guitars! That didn’t last long – I preferred to be on my own than to pretend to enjoy what was on offer! Instead I put my efforts into making my own music and painting, both of which I enjoyed. After a brush with big-time London music managers of pop groups, though, I decided enough was enough – no Christian could possibly go along with the current trends in society! Tell me, Christian youngster…how can you justify going to nightclubs? Or crowded pubs with the swap of drugs and drunkenness around you? Or going to the cinema when what is on offer is X-rated or filled with allusions to all that is dung in this world? Certainly some films now hailed with Oscars comply with that category! Why listen to music glorifying death, or drugs, or sex? Why watch programmes that depress or show a very jaundiced view of life? Why moan about not having friends, or not being able to find a romantic girl or boy friend? It is better to be completely alone than to join any of these things, or to hanker after them. If you have truly been saved by grace, why are you going after those things that will harm your faith and witness? Read your Bible and obey God. That is the key. You are called, young as you are, to be aloof from this world. Yes, you can meet with unsaved friends, but they must never dictate what you do and say, and should not be your role-models. It is your duty to witness to them, not to trail behind them mournfully, trying to fit-in to their worldly lifestyles and activities. Nor should you ‘join’ a church other than the one you are a member of, just to meet girls/boys, as so many do. God is fully aware of your circumstance, and if you remain faithful He will cause someone to join you as a girl or boy friend! There is no need to feel desperate! Indeed, the more desperate you are, the longer it will take to realise God is in control. The desperation comes from trying too hard to be like unsaved friends, and from listening to their own tales of life. It does not come from God! Very little of this world’s offerings are for the Christian boy or girl. This is because it is usually founded on something sinful. As Christians we should enjoy every minute of our lives – but in God’s way. I can assure Christian youngsters that what they think has existed forever in terms of enjoyment or leisure only began recently, in the 1960’s! Before that things were vastly different (and better in many ways). The things you now think are natural progressions and ‘modern’ are nothing of the sort…they were invented by money-grabbing businessmen who could see a fast buck in creating a whole new image for youth…an image that has gone on to ruin youngsters and fill them with all kinds of evil and evil desires. That is how we now think ‘living together’ is ‘natural’ – it certainly was not the case until the 1960’s!! It might sound very archaic, but the best thing young people can do, is to enjoy something wholesome! Forget the dark corners of nightclubs and pubs; forget the horrid music and immoral films, TV programmes and other offerings. GET A LIFE! Think about it carefully, and don’t get sidetracked by the sinful pursuits of today. Internet Safety for Youngsters On the internet, young people are seduced by so much, including sexual predators, whether heterosexual or homosexual. A pastor in Hawaii, Brian Bozarth, has now started an internet venture he hopes will steer youngsters away from the often bizarre, dirty and dangerous side of the internet. It’s called ‘Ditty Talk’ (dittytalk.com) and is a free online community for Christian youngsters. Unsaved youngsters may not bother with it, because it is wholesome – people constantly monitor the site to make sure nothing bad is put on it. Everything on it is supposed to be godly, and that’s the big difference. No doubt those with sinful lifestyles will scoff at it, but who cares? On the site you should find no profanity or sexual inappropriateness, and no pornography. There are attempts to place stuff on the site by people who hate God and who are hooked on filth and immorality, but as it is constantly monitored, they are quickly removed. So, if, like so many youngsters, you spend (too much) time on the internet, try this one for yourselves. As with anything else, you can learn to deprogram yourselves from the influences put on you by unsaved people and movements. Today, all youngsters are ‘worked on’ by all kinds of dark-minded people who try to foist ungodly ideas onto you…music promoting sex, drugs, fear, hatred and loathing for any kind of authority; sexual evils of all sorts, etc. Why not kick it all into touch and get real? The Elijah List Since publishing two articles on this charismatic group, we have received a long letter from an ex-employee of the group. This person had a senior post within the organisation and says it is fraudulent and very different from its public image. As we cannot ascertain the truth or not of the claims we will not publish the information. However, we must say that the information appears to tie-in with our own impressions. Why So Late? For a variety of reason this edition of The Beacon is very late…but the main reason is a simple one – somehow the February edition was obliterated from our files!! So, this is a completely separate edition. We hope to get the next edition (March) out much earlier!! Labouring Under Labour Since Labour came into power with oh-so-many promises, the tax bill for working households has risen by a staggering £9,000!! Perhaps British voters ought to look at what Labour really does. Labour is built upon the principles of western socialism, which relates strongly to the socialism that crushed Russians from before the time of Stalin. It is anti-God and anti-Christian, and that is why we are seeing more concessions to evildoers than ever before. Maybe next time voters will heed the warnings. Turning a Deaf Ear… Those of us who are extremely old remember singer Roger Daltry of The Who rock group. He made short trips into acting. Today he admits that loud rock music has destroyed his hearing and he is now almost completely deaf. The same problem affects drummers, as well as those who constantly listen to rock music on high-blast. So why do it?? We hear youngsters driving around towns in their hot-hatches with windows open, giving us the benefit of ultra-speaker rock music, whether or not we want to hear it. I can guarantee their hearing will deteriorate quickly. Christian youngsters are just as prone to listen to the wrong music at the wrong decibels…where are their parents? Going deaf is hardly a great blast, after all, is it? “a normal family”? Amy Crowhurst had her second child at the age of just 15. Both were by different fathers, who can’t be bothered to raise the children. She lives with her mother, who is also single and has just had her ninth child! Guess who pays for all this? Yes, that’s right – you and me! Amy and her mother see nothing wrong with their situation and says “We are just a normal family”. Sadly, many couples live together nowadays. Morality has flown the nest and abnormality has become normal. God help us all. We Were Right! Self-righteous critics have tried time and again to label us as ‘racists’ because we highlight the evils committed by Islamic terrorists and point out the disastrous policies that allow illegal immigrants into this country to wreak havoc in society. Our critics had now better attack Trevor Phillips, head of the UK’s Race Equality body! He has warned that where ethnic minorities are a majority in any UK town or city, racial tension and problems will arise. (Daily Mail, 20th March, 2006). Phillips is now warning of the dangers of multiculturalism…something we have been doing since 1985! Not only that, but he also blames other factors on rising tension between races…for example, the automatic provision of multi-language information, observation of minority holidays (whilst denying Christians the same). He believes that British councils and authorities who jump on the multicultural bandwagon (with a great deal of unrealistic and pious talk) are actually making things worse, by giving multi-language materials; they divide communities into sectors. Phillips says this is all leading quickly to segregationism, where whole towns will separate from other towns and communities, and ethnic minorities will speak against white locals. He points to growing problems with this situation in France and elsewhere. Maybe my own critics can now send this report to those who they want to crush me, eh? To these vile people I say, get real. We are NOT racist and hate no-one, so don’t try to ‘raise the heat’ with false allegations. Why? Many homosexuals admit they get young partners via the internet. So do heterosexuals who prey on children. Why, then, don’t internet providers simply shut off access to anyone who wishes to buy/sell their filth by computer? They cannot tell us they don’t have the technology, because such hi-tech programmes exist, and have been around for a few years. Internet providers should not accept filth-business at the outset. When they find such a site, it must be closed down. I couldn’t care less if someone’s ‘freedom’ has been breached – I care more for the thousands of youngsters who are harmed by predators. I also know that pornography harms everyone who enters its murky portals. And those who ‘enjoy’ it are prone to attacking children and women. Let pornography and abnormal sex go back to the pit from where they have crawled. Then maybe fewer people will be tempted to become diseased by its vomit. The Dilemma A baby is laying in an hospital bed, kept alive by doctors who now want to ‘pull the plug’. The dilemma, though, has been brought in by their own enthusiasm for technology and ‘breakthroughs’. I mentioned this problem 20 years ago and the same argument still stands – if we invent machines or other means to maintain life, then they must be used to capacity. If the means don’t exist, then there is no problem; the person dies anyway. But once we invent something to maintain life we are duty-bound to use it. That is basically it! Of course, the usual amoral argument is being trotted out – ‘low quality of life’!! This is an evil concept, based on relativism and the belief that life is mechanical. It is the natural caveat of people who disobey or reject God. Quality of life is a non-argument. What is quality to one is not quality to another. I have heard and read countless testimonies of people whose lives have been dubbed ‘low quality’ who are glad to be alive, despite their many disabilities or disadvantages. Yet, if our amoralists had their way, these people would not have been allowed to live in the first place! God makes life and He takes it away. No man or woman has the right to destroy someone else’s life because of a perceived ‘low quality’!! Dublin Riots Barry Napier was in Dublin at the time of riots led by Republicans (against an Orange Order band). Political Correctness Our readers should know by now that Political Correctness (PC) spells the death-knell for all who value truth and freedom of speech. PC is used extensively by all groups and individuals who wish to stop dissident voices. It is much easier than presenting their case. Of course, they do so because they have no case to present! Ask those who have already suffered under these awful people. Oh Dear… Sadly, there really are ‘fundamentalists’ whose beliefs make the rest of us look silly… Zion Oil, based in Dallas, is owned by John Brown, who is a Christian. He believes there is a huge deposit of undiscovered crude oil under the desert north of Tel Aviv. He bases his belief on Deuteronomy 33:24. If found, he says, it would alter the balance of power in the Middle East, removing the strangle-hold currently applied by Arab countries. We hope he is right, of course. If he does find oil it won’t be down to his interpretation of scripture, though! The text speaks of Asher: “let him dip his foot in oil”. It seems that Mr Brown takes this literally to mean Asher would stand in crude oil oozing from the ground. But, it doesn’t mean that at all. The oil in the text is shemen, fat, or olive oil. It can also mean enjoyment of good things and plenty (from the root word, shaman). But crude oil? Nope. How To Become a Fool Much worse than the above is the man who thinks that to ‘know more of God’ he must plunge into darkness, blind, accepting whatever comes his way. This kind of thinking is current in many charismatic churches and groups, such as the Elijah List. It speaks of finding new knowledge of God and godliness by getting into ‘realms of glory not yet reached’. Beware! These people always tell you that what you seek is just beyond what we know! It is a way of leading you into error…because if we don’t know something we can’t compare it with anything else. How, then, can we know if it is right or wrong? As usual, you can know all the answers, and, of course, reach those uncharted waters, by sending your cash to attend a conference, where all will be revealed! After a while, you will be told there are even more uncharted waters to swim in, where you will be guaranteed to achieve even greater spirituality. Just attend another conference, or buy another book, etc. Easy? Don’t be a fool! Scripture contains the sum total of what we are to know on this earth about God and what He does! He has ordained ministers to teach and to provide proper exegesis of this or that text. But everything will always be contained within the canon of scripture. Don’t take the extra-Biblical route, because it is a fake road leading to a dead-end. The Elijah List is gravely erroneous. We have had an unsolicited letter from someone who held a senior office in the group, and it describes what this person alleges is fraudulent, and improper work practices and use of ‘prophecy’. Even if we discount this letter, it is obvious to any serious Bible-scholar that the List is not Christian. How can a true Christian say something like “The Lord’s audible voice filled the room, introducing the angel standing before me: ‘Welcome the Minister of Finance for the Kingdom.’ ”!!! Frankly, it is the kind of thing one expects from a man who is badly deluded, or even mentally unbalanced. God can speak to a man. Angels can appear. But those words, supposedly coming from God? No way! The heresy continues: “God is about to release finances and resources to reshape the Body of Christ on the earth.” Oh yes? What the List means is that it will tell its gullible members that God will do this or that – but it is the members who will finance anything being done. The money won’t just arrive suddenly on the ground, like manna!! Apparently, God is “looking for those who desire an open-door experience…” That is, those who are gullible and who will listen to any rubbish taught by hoax ‘Christian’ teachers! From the 19th Century “It is true that for the most part, the saints of God only have a little of…blessed things, from time to time, just brought in and taken away, but sufficient to taste their sweetness, to know their beauty, to see their glory…and therefore sufficient, while they last, to help them onward in their course, and keep them struggling on, till they reach that eternal glory.” (J.C. Philpot, 1802-1869. Kindly sent to us by Rose Fenton). Unsaved sinners know nothing of this. God help all who scoff at the very idea of Him. The numbers who reject God and laugh at those who believe in Him are growing. But, as with everything else, sheer numbers are meaningless if they don’t have truth. Laws are being changed to give freedom to evildoers, but it is all part of leading up to the last days. The people who now laugh at God will know the truth when they die! And many will die prematurely because of their sins. So, let them laugh as much as they like. Christians are saved by God and will know eternal salvation and peace – those who do not know God and laugh at Him will never know peace.
