Where is it Now? In the mid-1990’s when the Toronto Blessing was ravaging the UK, reformed leaders said “It’s another fad. It will die out.” As they spoke they battened down their doors and windows and pretended nothing was really happening. Their courage failed, and they did not expose the evil in their midst. Were they right? If not, where is the ‘fad’ now? If you have to ask the question, then you will not understand the answer! At the time, I said that my brethren were sincere but misled by their own thinking. Indeed, most were showing a distinct lack of discernment. I saw this as a natural result of decades of reformed laxity. I don’t mean that all reformed pastors, teachers and theologians were necessarily ‘bad’ – only that they were terribly wrong. In the workplace, there is a saying, that when it comes to getting rid of a burdensome employee, there may be only one golden opportunity to do so – miss that brief moment and you may never again have another chance to do so! This principle is also true in many other spheres of life, including Christianity. In the 1990’s I observed the rise of charismatic temperatures in the UK as its adherents were drawn toward the happenings in other parts of the world. I saw reformed Christians mesmerised by the apparent ‘movement of God’. Yet, despite overwhelming applaud for the movement, I was increasingly adamant that we were seeing a massive spiritual fraud taking place. Many in my home city tried to convince me otherwise, but my response to the phenomenon – which was still in its infancy at the time – was immediate and strong…this was a deception of Satan! A growing number of pastors in my city started to condemn me, as they joined the false ‘refreshing’. But, what concerned me and made me amazed, was the opposition I received from my ‘own kind’ – genuine reformed Christians and their pastors. They wanted me to shut up and told me that it was just a craze, a momentary fad that would soon die down. Today, they feel their warning was correct, because, to them, the Toronto Blessing no longer exists. But it does! It is true to say that our main Web site (www.christiandoctrine.net) is now one of the major theology sites in the world, as responses from individuals and other sites prove. As such, we receive many queries and condemnatory emails from both charismatics and reformed people alike. Without a doubt, they speak from a pro-charismatic stance, warning me not to impede the movement of God, which is still very strong and growing very fast. Yet I am still adamant that this ‘movement of God’ is all of Satan. So, where are my brethren in all this? They remain as quiet as ever, maintaining their Bible-college-taught distance, whilst all around them Satan brings about global changes. The free-wheeling charismatic movement (born out of Pentecostalism) was once considered to be a fringe oddity, if not a lunacy. Pentecostalists were once subdued and without any kind of force. But, since the Toronto Blessing, they have risen to occupy the position of mainstream ‘church’, ousting reformed and other Christians in a few short years. Phenomena are now the norm. This is all around us, in every area and city and village. Its ethos and ideas are evident in speech, and feeling, and even in reformed books. Sadly, most reformed men do not even realise it is going on, or that charismatic theology and meanings are in their own speech and teaching. And those who are ex-charismatics, though now out of charismatic churches, display typical charismatic thinking in their daily lives and decisions. What they think they have left is still embedded, like a virus, in their souls, affecting their thoughts and aims. It is a fact that whenever I am contacted by a man or woman who is an ex-charismatic, they are initially enthusiastic and ask many questions. For a while they remain ‘friends’…but I know from clues along the way that their former thinking is still subtly ruling their souls. I know that the day will come when they will decide that I am quite a sinner, because they cannot ‘stand the heat’ of sustained Biblical thinking. There comes a time when they prefer their own thoughts, to what scripture actually says. Even last week a fellow in the USA did exactly this, but faster than usual. This is yet another aspect of the Toronto effect on men’s minds. The Toronto experience is another name for Satan’s activities. They find a voice in many ways, and erupt as countless charismatic movements. In particular, they have a very strong Romanist presence. In my examination of the thinking of Roman Catholic theologian, Aquinas, I have unearthed a variety of ideas that are found in modern-day charismatic thought. Don’t you find that interesting? Recently, a Catholic was offended by my anti-RC material, and demanded to know why God had so ‘blessed’ the RCC with the charismatic renewal, if the RCC was not the true church. I had to tell her that the ‘blessing’ was natural, for both are false and Satan wishes to maintain his ground. Believe me, this is typical of ‘Protestant’ and Romanist contacts alike. The Toronto Blessing is alive and well and living very near you, if not inside your own local church! That’s a fact. Whether it is evidenced as outright manifestations or in the use of subtle terminology, it is there, eroding the fabric of Christian life. In 1994, reformed men read a book by Dave Roberts, ‘The Toronto Blessing’, and accepted it as good. This showed me the extent of their knowledge, for my own research (which is similar to that of others who examined the phenomenon) at that time, and since, led me to dismiss the whole bundle of activity as Satanic. These brethren may not be wholly blind – but they certainly were led into a shadowy place where light is being extinguished. Right at the start of his book, Roberts got his reformed readers ‘hooked’, by equating the 1904 ‘Revival’ and the Toronto Blessing. It begged the question – if what was happening in the mid-1990’s was exactly like what happened in 1904…then what was the 1904 Revival? But, no-one dared to ask the question. Instead, they accepted the word of Roberts in what was really a very basic and simplistic book. Supposedly setting out to examine the new phenomenon in a proper way, Roberts was obviously pro-Toronto, so any conclusions he came to were bound to be coloured by his preferences. As early as page 23, he had already established in his own mind that this was a genuine movement of God, albeit with a few spots of sin. He did not bother to ask if the whole thing was rotten to the core. (At the time, and since, charismatics and reformed men ‘covered’ themselves by saying that though there were ‘spots’ of sin in the movement, the thing as a whole was of God. But, God does not work this way – what He gives us is pure and unadulterated. It is only Satanic copies and originals that mix good and bad). But, the truth is glaringly obvious on page 24, where he traces the roots and links of the Toronto experience…particularly linking it with Azusa Street as a natural child of the Welsh 1904 ‘revival’! He points out, accurately, that they were of the same family. Does this not make a reformed Christian shudder? After all, reformed churches boast in their 1904 history. No, they ignore this link just as they ignore the entire Toronto evil. Charismatic evil is everywhere and it is like a cancer, rotting the flesh of local churches. It has badly affected reformed churches, too. Cancer, though, has a habit of growing unimpeded in the body without the host’s knowledge, and he usually dies. Charismatic teaching and spirit are now well entrenched in reformed churches world-wide, even in the churches of well-known all-by-grace pastors. They cannot see themselves or hear what they say. But, to those of us versed in the depths of charismatic deception, the errors and tendencies are like open purulent sores. One example of this thinking is the change from genuine Gospel preaching to Arminianism in its many guises. Once churches or preachers are on this humanistic trail, they are fair game for marauding demons who lead them further astray by the day. Sadly, reformed men think, inexplicably, that it does not matter if preaching is Arminian, for they see it as just an alternative form of the Gospel! If you are affected in this way, will you continue to follow your own path? Or will you obey God and get back on the straight path, narrow and completely biased in favour of God’s word alone? And remember – the huge ‘wave’ that struck the churches back in the 1990’s was just a splash-pool event. The main tsunami has yet to arrive. It may, or may not, be that obvious, but the wave has already started…which is why we link the current Muslim threat with Israel, and both these with charismatic and Romanist movements, all of which are converging as one. Where is the Toronto Blessing? It is everywhere…and it may well be residing in your heart right now, if you have even one small shred of sympathy for charismatic or Pentecostal teaching. Don’t allow Satan to hijack your spirit and mind! Repent and listen to the few watchmen who have been blasting trumpets for decades. Harry Potter I am constantly surprised by the rubbish Christians watch and read! It is very evident, for example, that many Christians think it is okay for their kids (or them!) to read Harry Potter books!! There can be no doubt that the author of these books has written with great literary skill, and that fantasy with story-lines that grab are the basis for this success. However, as I have pointed out in some of my Sunday Bible studies (available by eMail on request), Christians are now very lax. They interpret world events and personal events along very human lines – psychology, medicine, politics, etc. Yet, as Paul says, we have one foot on earth and one foot in heaven. Does it not make sense, then, to interpret things with this in mind? If we do this, we do not see the Harry Potter phenomenon simply as a literary success – we begin to see the world in a very different way. The success of Harry Potter has a far more sinister root, a root that has many other branches, such as an increase in esoteric ideologies, false religions and the occult. Another branch, and older, is charismaticism, which encourages and teaches spiritism. Satan has a much bigger agenda than we can imagine. His plans are not just a year or two old, but span the millennia. What we see being spawned today has taken possibly hundreds of years to put into place. What better time to introduce children (and adults!) to witchcraft and magic than now, when the Toronto Blessing has already ravaged the churches, rendering Christians and pseudo-Christians inept? So many ‘Christians’ have praised the Harry Potter series, because they show the end-result of good overpowering evil! But, the Bible does not exactly match this unbelievable euphoria. Rather, scripture says that evil will abound and increase until Jesus Christ comes again to eradicate it all. Thus, whilst Harry Potter and his mates finally win over evil, those who read about his exploits also learn how to practice the black arts, in detail. It does not even matter if some of the chants and spells are invented. What matters is that Satan sees children being put at his mercy (which he does not have). Satan does not care if spells are invented for literature, or are genuine. He is watching for those who show interest in his dark and wicked spiritual world. This is how he has worked since his fall, and those of us who have had dealings with possessed and oppressed people know this to be the case. Don’t expect immediate outcomes…what we can expect is a slow decline in the number of people who listen to the Gospel, and a decline in true theology amongst Christians. We can also expect a greater rise in violence and outright wicked acts, because people are being ‘softened-up’ by seemingly rip-roaring tales. These are all prophesied in scripture, but it does not mean that we should accept them with Islamic-style fatalism! For a Christian to buy or allow their children to read this kind of subtle Satanic propaganda is a sin, for they are deliberately giving them a taste for what is godless. Kids in particular cannot see the ‘deeper’ concept of good winning over evil – they simply read the words and see spells and glorious fights against demons, etc. And they practice them. Anything else is an excuse made by adults who wish to ignore godly living. But reading about spells is only a part of the problem. What about the children of Christians being sent to disco parties, where blatantly sexual or godless lyrics are played all night? Or, Christian parents buying, or allowing their children to buy, the same records or CD’s? Or, buying very young girls clothing that ought not be worn even by adults, thus increasing their image as paedophile-fodder? I urge all Christians to look at the world as Old and New Testament men of God did – they knew they were not just in a worldly struggle, but in a spiritual struggle, and they responded to the world’s offerings accordingly. When my own children were old enough to watch TV, we vetoed every programme. We listened to every tape or record they later bought, and if they contained bad language, sexual, violent, or drug themes, we explained the dangers and expected them to put them into the bin, which they did. We refused, as parents, to allow them to be deliberately tainted, and especially to bring bad material into our home. There are plenty of good books out there. There is no need to succumb to “Oh Mum…everyone is reading them!” Too many Christian parents give in when their loving offspring moan!! Mothers, in particular, have a divine command to look after their children properly, and to teach them, daily, the things God expects of us all, even if we are not Christians. And I can assure you, now, that God does not expect us to teach children how to read magic spells! Truth Needed! Moderate Muslim leaders in the UK are blaming the government for some of their young men becoming terrorists! (This is exactly the same inane excuse used for non-Muslim young men, who rob and mug and kill!). They claim that if the UK withdrew its troops from Iraq, the bombing would stop. If the government gives in over this veiled threat, they will make matters many times worse – no sane man gives in to threats! It is up to the young men themselves to stay legal. It is up to their Muslim leaders, and up to their parents and friends. Otherwise, why not blame the government because thieves are jealous about rich people…just spread out the wealth more and everything would be okay. No! Sin always finds a way to express, and excuse, itself. (In the 1950’s and 1960’s Tiger Bay, Cardiff, UK, had a fearsome reputation as a tough dockland. But it was the media that created this picture. In reality, yes, there were tough people in that area – but it was a truly multi-cultural, multi-racial place, where all people lived together in harmony. This is because all races lived together and did not segregate themselves…you did not walk down a Tiger Bay street thinking you were in the middle of Saudi Arabia or Pakistan! That was the difference. Those from abroad who came to live here, assumed UK identity and were genuine citizens…they did not cynically exploit our benefits system to fund their own agenda). The terrorists who now cause havoc in Iraq are not even Iraqi, but are ‘imports’ from everywhere else. Their aim is to destroy democracy and impose Sharia law on Iraq. Even if all the troops left tomorrow there would still be civil war. Evil men will see to that. All the time Muslims in the UK are trying to carve out a special place for their religion and so the demands keep on coming. Islam is alien to this country and the addition of terrorism is just a grim icing on the frightening cake. Extremists (who are still in the UK, by the way!!) have warned that we will be targeted time and again until we back off from Iraq. We must not give in to this threat, for whilst it would bring a temporary lull to the UK and insanity to the Middle East, we will then be subject to every terrorist demand that comes along. We must not give in to the extremists’ proud boast that they will not give up until a Muslim flag flies over Downing Street! The same leaders say that Islam brings a “message of war” to those who fight Muslims. In other words, they can do what they like and we must just remain passive. Classic bullies trying to subdue their victims. Don’t listen, friends. Iraq has nothing to do with this issue. The rise in terrorism was instigated by Yasser Arafat, and the world has him to thank for the ethos of suicide bombing. But even he was not clever enough to think it up all on his own – Satan drove him to destroy Israeli people in particular, and anyone else who happened to get in the way. It is all part of Satan’s strategy…but the conclusion will surprise Christians who are fed on populist theology. The idea is NOT to make the whole world Islamic, even though this is the current cry from extremists. The idea is to bring together moderate Muslims, who will shun the terrorists, whilst they will join hands with Rome, ecumenists, and unbelievers, to ‘create peace’. In other words, Satan wants to blur the edges of all religions so that (true) Christianity is marginalized to the point of near-extinction. ‘Peace’ is the convenient flag, devised by Satan, under which this will all occur. False ‘refreshings’ are part of it, too. So, watch out, friends. What we see happening right now is already spoken of in The Revelation. Preach the Gospel while you can, for when ‘peace’ is declared, you will have very little legal opportunity to do so. At the same time, push for legal constraints on terrorism, and against laws that give Islam greater concessions. We have already warned against demanding more powerful blasphemy laws…let God deal with that! Such laws will only be used against us, as has already happened. And stop being naïve about the Gospel message. Don’t follow the example of misled Christians who think that all we need to do is to witness to the Gospel. Try reading the rest of scripture for clues! Insanity Rules The Director of ‘Liberty’, Shami Chakrabarti, says that she agrees to people being deported – but that it is “wrong to send them to (their own) countries that use torture.” In other words, terror peddlers can rule the roost in the UK, finance suicide bombers, and instigate murder, abuse our social system, and must not be sent back to their own country, which probably already supports terrorism? What a farce! What a disgusting demand to make upon us! Why? For the first time, the NHS has funded and entered a float in the Gay Pride carnival, held in London on July 2nd. The nursing union, the Royal College of Nursing (RCN), also had a presence, to ‘celebrate diversity’. My question to both is…why? Homosexuality is not just a sin – it is also dangerous in health terms and destructive in social terms. So, why should either organisation lend support to something like that? Why should funding be siphoned off to support ‘diversity’? It is a sexual choice, and as such is a personal matter (see final article). As I have asked before, why not fund paedophilia? Or bestiality? They are all sexual choices! Why does homosexuality deserve funding? It does not! Homosexuality is an obvious aberration – it is certainly not an ‘alternative’ to genuine sexuality as it is meant to be. Homosexuals, of course, argue that sexuality is what you make it. My simple response is…why, then, are males and females built as they are – the female’s anatomy designed to receive the male anatomy? It is rather obvious, but homosexuals ignore that question. The only way homosexuality is an ‘alternative’ is in the same sense as arsenic is an alternative to milk! Sadly, even ‘respectable’ organisations are duped by constant homosexual propaganda. I have previously asked the RCN to open up the debate on homosexuality, and to ask its members just why homosexuality is given credence by organisations pledged to support life and health. I also want to know why my fees to the RCN are being used for ‘diversity’ purposes, when it really means supporting an individual’s mistaken sexual choice. It is a false goal, and I object strongly. Once again I must say that individual homosexuals are not a ‘target’ – I am speaking about homosexuality itself. Homosexual sin is just like any other sin, though it is true that it also attracts stronger epithets from God. Thus, my argument also applies to heterosexual sexual sins. As far as any Christian is concerned the only legitimate choice is hetero-sex within a monogamous marriage for life. The Gay Scene A few weeks ago, I objected to an article in a professional nursing journal, which made broad and wrong scientific and medical statements. The author also made assertions about Christian responses to homosexuality, that were plainly erroneous, and inflammatory. All I did was to respond with courtesy, pointing out that all of his statements were based on very bad research. The whole of the next edition of the journal’s letters pages was taken up with instant responses, all pro-gay, and so was half of the following edition! Each reply was either vicious, ignorant of the facts, or just emotional, and one even called for me to be taken to court (?). Anger typified all responses. There have been numerous research studies claiming that homosexuality is the result of biological/genetic causes. Each one has subsequently been debunked by more serious researchers. Significantly, every study making biological claims was undertaken by pro-gays or gays, whose aim was to ‘prove’ a biological cause for homosexuality! They have all failed, and so personal choice remains the key. Don’t be fooled by research!
