I Need Asylum
from Asylum!

The terrorists who hijacked a ‘plane at a UK airport have been let off their charges. Though quite ready to kill all the passengers, these Arabic killers were allowed to say that they were afraid of their masters and so were forced to do what they did.

Because of this, our kind UK judges say that any legal imposition would be ‘unsafe’. So they can be freed. But it gets better! The terrorists will be allowed to roam the UK at will, get benefits, and even sue the government for compensation, under the farcical asylum rules!

Once again our own judges are reinforcing the fact that the UK is dumb and loves to entertain terrorism…and that highly-paid lawyers and judges are more concerned with voicing their cleverness than with maintaining law and order, by siding with evil men. I suggest that president Bush and Mr Blair now attack the UK, because we are, like Saddam, harbouring and training terrorists!

In the current wave of anti-terrorism, the UK is ‘tailing’ known Islamic rogues. Why not just kick them out of this country and send them back to their land of origin? It is one thing to suddenly find a terrorist who has somehow smuggled into the UK, and quite another to keep them here, give them money and support, and let them claim thousands from the taxpayers whose hard-earned cash pays for terrorism through the stupidity of the legal system!

Leading judges have complained to Mr Blunkett for telling them off all the time - but they deserve it! This country must act fast, even in retrospect, to rid the UK of terrorists and those who live off our taxes whilst hating everything British.

As I keep saying, this has nothing to do with racism. It is a Biblical response to a fast encroaching cultism of the UK. God’s laws build up and give true power. Islamic laws bring misery and Dark-Ages mentality. So we have every reason to limit the influence of Islam. People may believe what they wish, but they are out of order when they try to force everyone else to obey their laws.

Also consider all the other comments about asylum made by us.  Remember, too, that no matter what is said, those who enter illegally are criminals, not legitimate asylum seekers. Remember the recent new ways of trying to fool this country. It has been reported that many are now using the ploy used a few times…saying that they will kill their own children if they are not allowed into the UK. The fact that they say it shows that they are not people we can trust or want in the UK. And what of the ‘grateful’ seekers who recently burned down a detention centre (which was like an hotel) to get what they want? It has cost us millions. Yet, these ungrateful wretched people will be allowed to stay in the UK, filling us up with hate and Islamic calls to violence.

I have been sent a copy of a letter from an Islamic leader to the government, demanding that the UK funds Islamic schools. Personally, I feel that the few Catholic schools we have should not be funded by the government. But I would totally oppose state-sponsored Islamic schools, which would teach an alien culture and religion with our taxes. If anyone wishes to teach their children religious values, then it ought to be done privately, not by schools. That goes for Christian schools, too. (I speak as an ex-schoolteacher).

False Teachers

“But there were many false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you….” (2 Peter 2:1).

I am continually harassed by people who say they are Christians, but whose whole approach is to crush and to impose their own will. They read books and listen to preachers, sometimes in great depth. Then they pompously suppose that their reading and thinking is equal to the office of teacher or preacher, and they proceed to ‘tell people off’ and dare to ‘teach’ them, whether or not they wish to listen, and whether or not what they say is Biblical (which, obviously, think they are – 100%!).

Friends, I do not hesitate to say that I have been called by God to the office of preacher and teacher, with a special responsibility for the teaching of doctrine. I do not make this claim because I say so!! This is no boast in my own strength. It is merely a matter of fact. And, I can only mimic the words of an early Christian who said that if he did and said anything good, then it came from God, but if he said or did anything wrong, it was down to his own sinfulness. I fully agree, because I know my own weakness and potential for waywardness.

There is a big difference between the man who is called by God to office and the one who thinks he can have an equal claim, or may oppose the one called by God, simply because he has read many books! There is also a difference between the man truly called by God, who makes a mistaken statement, and the man who thinks he is of equal kind and continually makes odd and ‘off-the-mark’ statements based on his erroneous view of his supposed ‘calling’, convinced by his ‘much-reading’. (See what Paul says about these people in his letters to the Corinthians!).

Today, there are many false teachers and, without a shadow of a doubt, I can say that I am not one of them! I know this because I only teach what scripture says. I have no interest in pushing my own view, or of just ‘getting one over’ on someone else, in order to be ‘right’. But, some who oppose what I say wish only to be seen to be right for their own sakes. No doubt they even have a very small and dedicated group of friends who they have brainwashed!

In this personalised quest they think nothing of insulting men called by God to their office, and think nothing of pushing their own agenda, proudly telling the man called by God that his ministry is going off the rails!! Of course, these same folk will tut-tut and say that this article proves how deluded and arrogant I am. Ah well, that’s how it goes.

The most recent attack was against my short article on baptism. If you read it, you will find that my interpretations are based entirely on scripture. Yet, some who claim to ‘read widely’ tend to believe the words of other writers, not even considering whether or not maybe they are wrong and I might be right. At any rate I will no longer argue the point, because it is like trying to talk to a brick wall.

Paul had to defend his position many times, as his epistles prove. I can guess what he felt like doing that, because I have to do it many times over in any given week. I do it because it is necessary, in the face of a myriad of false teachers. Like Paul, I utter this call – “Follow me”. What did Paul mean by this? He meant exactly what I mean – that Christians who came under his ministry should follow him, ONLY INSOFAR AS HE FOLLOWED CHRIST!!!

My ministry takes me into the deepest parts of doctrine, because that is what I am called to do. Whilst, like any human being, I can sometimes come to a wrong conclusion (usually on a minor point), this does not mean that an uncalled person has the right to attack and oppose me on the strength of his self-calling and self-reading.

It has been said that I reject those who do not listen to me as a person. This is sheer bunkum! I say, like Paul, that I am called by God to a particular ministry and if I pass-on what I find in scripture, then readers have no option but to follow it…because what I am saying comes direct from God’s word. Therefore, just as Paul meant it, I am really saying “follow Christ” when I say “follow me”!!

If I pass on what is plainly unscriptural, then by all means oppose what I say. But, if what I say comes direct from scripture, then obey what has been said, not because I say it, but because God does. This is all obvious to genuine Christians, so why do some reject it? Teachers are placed within the churches for a reason. False teachers and those who are full of their own importance are not. As I hope genuine Christians can see, this brief article is not about me, but about the nature of being called to office and the need to obey the Lord.

(P.S. On the matter of the Israel issue, please read the article “Christians Who Hate the Jews”, The Spectator, 16th February, 2002. This will also be on our website. I do not agree with everything it says, but its main argument is true – more Christians are coming to actually hate the Jews and use all kinds of barbaric and wrong arguments against them, so that they might reject any future place for the Jews, despite God’s actual teaching in scripture.

Hatred for Jews

As I have said before, I receive information from many sources. It does not mean I accept all of them as true, but it does mean that I get to see reports that most do not.

There is a concerted effort by a growing number of Christians to denigrate all Jews. It is true that some Israeli decisions are wrong, but this does not mean we can treat the Jews like a plague, when God’s own word says they will continue to have a special place in the world.

One such source of information does not spread bias, but simply gives a wide variety of published articles from many news-givers on the same topic, to show how prejudiced are the media.

Take a recent destruction of orchards in Palestine. News programmes showed Palestinians throwing rocks and the reporters said it was against Israeli soldiers. But this was nothing like the truth! The people throwing rocks were the farmers whose living had been destroyed by the Israeli’s – but they were NOT throwing the rocks at the soldiers They were throwing them at their own people!!

They were throwing rocks at members of Hamas, Palestinian terrorists. To quote one of the farmers, “They (the militants) claim they are heroes. They brought us only destruction and made us homeless. They used our farms, our houses and our children to hide.”

These facts were reported in a variety of newspapers, but they did not make the main news, which continue to target Israel as the ‘bad guys’. Nor do they report that this kind of local uprising against Hamas is spreading in Palestine. In many reports pictures are cut and pasted together to give the wrong impression.

The Jerusalem Post reports that the folk of Southern Gaza have set up vigilante groups to prevent Hamas from entering their homes and villages. Do you hear this on the news? No. However, meanwhile the BBC has been forced to issue ‘corrections’ to certain anti-Israel views after criticism from Palestinians themselves! Do you hear anything of this? Again, no.

I am so fed up with the anti-Jew rubbish I receive. Apart from anything else, such views are hateful, showing no Christian love. As I continue to say, I am not a Zionist, just someone who dislikes falsity and false reporting, and who believes what God says in His word concerning Israel.

Some writers have noted that this upsurge in hatred for the Jews amongst Christians has been re-invented by Muslims who want to totally get rid of Israel. Think this is not fact? Mohammed told his followers, in one of the hadiths: “The last hour will not come before the Muslims fight the Jews and the Muslims kill them.”

This is not surprising, for Abu Dharr asked Mohammed what was ‘most excellent’, and the reply was “Faith in God and jihad in His path.” Violence is the normal Islamic way. (Don’t be fooled by current Western Muslim silence. More of this in a separate paper ‘Islam – for Real’). Christians who hate Jews, then, do so today because of Muslim interference. Whatever the reason, they sin.

Pray for Christian Police

On Friday 23rd I attended a passing-out parade at a police training centre in Wales. My brother-in-law, Jamie, decided to move to Wales to join the police force (and our church), after having a successful career in computers in the London area. He needs prayer in these violent and riotous days. All police need our support, but Christian police officers need active prayer continually, given the many opportunities police get to ‘bend the rules’.

My father was a special police officer back in the 1950’s and 60’s, when things were much quieter. I almost joined as a cadet – but at the time I was just half an inch too short! Nowadays, some of them can walk under my armpit, even with their helmets on! That is life.

I wish Jamie well and pray that God will give him a good career based on Christian values and character, protecting him from violence and the temptations of so many kinds that will come his way.

Alpha, Free Will and Evangelism

Many critical letters I get are the result of people either not reading our material properly, or of ignoring what scripture says in its wholeness.

One such letter was typical…it blasted me for opposing Alpha (even though there is ample evidence to prove its heretical roots), and threw out a snide remark about there being no need for evangelism if we do not have free will.

This is so absurd. God speaks of His sovereignty in all things; He speaks of predestination (which precludes free will automatically anyway) and says that He chooses us, we do not choose Him. This plain teaching is also ignored in favour of ‘free will’. (Note that Bishop Ridley was attacked by Romanists because of his belief in predestination, which he saw as crucial. (For a good short article on Ridley see the July issue of ‘Berean Deaf’ – contact our director for the deaf, Ian Funnell).

Only Believers are capable of choosing good or evil. Unbelievers are driven by Satan, their ‘father’, and so can only choose what is bad or sinful. Even their ‘good’ is counted as evil by God.  As Believers we may choose good and evil, but only within a defined parameter given by God. That is, we may only choose within His own boundaries. This is not free will, but the will of God.

As for there being no need for evangelism if we cannot choose God…in scripture, though there is predestination, there is also a command to preach to all nations. Why, if we cannot choose? Don’t ask me – it’s a matter of obedience! I am only telling you what scripture says. So, do not dare to resort to snide, sarcastic remarks. God says He predestinates and He also says we must evangelise. That’s the end of the matter. It is irrelevant if we understand the connection or not.

(Evangelism is an act of obedience, just like prayer. Neither activity causes God to change His mind or to do as we say. Both must be done because God says so. Any ‘success’ is created by God, not by evangelism or prayer…both are adjuncts to, and not causative factors of, what God has already willed to happen).

Who Opens the Door?

Everyone is familiar with the Holbein painting of Christ standing outside a door, knocking, with a lantern in his hand.

Interestingly, it can be used in two ways – one way by heretics and the other by Bible-believing Christians!

Those who do not believe in predestination interpret Christ’s presence as being for unbelievers. He is supposedly knocking the door of the heart of an unbeliever, who must open the door in order to let Jesus save him. Very clearly, this is Arminianism, and therefore heresy.

The painting, based on Revelation 3:20, is not about the unsaved at all, but about the saved, who need to allow Christ full reign over their lives…read it for yourselves and see. This much is made obvious by the context.

If we read the whole text we find Christ warning the church (not the unsaved) of Laodicea who were neither hot nor cold, but lukewarm, because they relied more on their riches than on God. Christ calls on them to repent and see the truth of their situation. So, He stands at the door and knocks – if any of the Laodician Christians would only let Christ hold sway in their lives, He promised to be with them. To put it in daily language, that’s one in the eye for Arminians!!

And for those who are still not convinced, read the final verse in that chapter, which says “He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” How much clearer must God be for those who reject His word of predestination? (I will continue to study this matter and have started an article looking at predestination and so-called ‘free will’, together). Predestination remains a stumblingblock for all who reject God’s sovereign grace and is a test of their genuineness.

Superfluous

The superfluous nature of most churches continues to make me sigh! On radio, TV and in the other media we see the activities of the churches equated with Christian belief itself.

Charismatics are famed for their many works. Anglicanism and Romanism follow on with zeal, too. But it is all froth on the coffee!

True Christianity is simply a relationship with God. God will lead whom He will, as He will. The countless services we attend, or the conferences, or the mid-week activities and the huge number of things we ‘must’ do to ‘prove’ to others that we are genuine, are all nonsense. It would be far better if Christians sat at home and read their Bibles, meditating on what they have been shown by the Holy Spirit, than to constantly rush to this or that service, to keep up with expectations!

If we genuinely wish to meet with others, that’s fine. But not if we feel compelled by tradition or the frowns of our peers. Just bear in mind that the main concern is that we have a true relationship with God, which starts with salvation. After that, we must obey His word and the leading of the Holy Spirit.

These things are personal. All the rest, involving ‘services’, are secondary. We must meet together, have communion, etc., but the usual frenetic mix of ‘services’ is man-made, not compulsory.

I know huge numbers of Christians who are intimidated by what is expected of them. When they come to see that Christianity is merely the acting-out of one’s salvation, they are able to relax and enjoy their relationship with God and others. The rushing about and constant attendance at ‘services’ are basically Arminian devices or ‘works’. The meetings devoted to weekly ‘prayer’ are of dubious value, if not totally useless (see articles on this).

Do YOU want genuine Christianity, or are you content (but anxious or secretly antagonistic) with your churchianity?

So, live a little! Come to see what God really expects of you, and enjoy your freedom in Christ! Before you do, though, you should count the cost, for cost it will. You will lose those who you truly think are your ‘friends’. They will stick with their brand of false Christianity just as you or I have done in the past. They will see you as a ‘backslider’. Then they will simply forget all about you.

It comes down to whether or not you want Christ or other human beings as your mentor. I cannot think of many Reformed Christians who would refute any of the major doctrinal statements we teach. Yet, none of them is willing to take those doctrinal statements and apply them to their own lives. So, they remain staunch churchmen and not active Christians.

They would point to all the things they ‘do for Christ’, but we would say that we only do what the Holy Spirit tells us to do. Their many activities are usually ‘recommended’ by their peers and not by God. They point to the many conferences and meetings they attend – but how much is translated into everyday living? And how did their attendances help them when the Toronto Blessing came and rotted their very foundations?

Today they passively observe the success of the Alpha course. A few might admit that there are ‘some things’ not quite right about it. But there it will end, for they do not wish to be seen to be against ‘a movement of the Spirit’…exactly the excuse given for not acting against the TB!! Their wishy-washy beliefs and activities are the result of years of traditional thinking and it is all superfluous. If they walked with God, as they claim, then they would know that God is not walking with the TB or with Alpha!

Conservative or Not?

One of the brethren says he is in agreement with our beliefs, but would differ on the matter of our advising folk to vote Conservative. This prompts me to further advise, as we did at the time, that our statements were all about spoiling the vote for Labour. It was not particularly about voting Conservative.

If I am asked today, I would say that the Conservative party is now going the way of liberals everywhere, as it attempts to grab more votes from people whose lifestyles are immoral and devoid of God. So, if we had a general election today I would NOT advise Christians to vote Conservative.

Originally, and at the time, Conservatism displayed a token Christian value system. Now, a few years on, it does not, and so does not deserve to be voted for. Perhaps the Independent Party is now a better contender. Our motive is not to tell you who to vote for, but rather to advise who not to vote for, because of their ungodly stance. Our warnings about Labour were well-founded and have proved to be right, far exceeding our fears.

The EU is now going to be our leader, and the UK constitution will be changed to allow for RC interference. Pray that its power will be disrupted.
