  Iraq, War
& Heroism

“The LORD is a man of war…”

Exodus 15:3

Did you know that?

“…the LORD (will have) war with Amalek from generation to generation.”

Exodus 17:16

In Numbers we see the command for all men over the age of twenty to go to war. And yet, in Deuteronomy 20:10 on, we read:

“When thou comest nigh unto a city to fight against it, then proclaim peace unto it. And it shall be, if it make thee answer of peace, and open unto thee, then it shall be, (that) all the people (that is) found therein shall be tributaries unto thee, and they shall serve thee. And if it will make no peace with thee, but will make war against thee, then thou shalt besiege it…thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword.”

“(The words) of his mouth were smoother than butter, but war (was) in his heart: his words were softer than oil, yet (were) they drawn swords.”

Psalm 55:21

 Sounds like Saddam to me!

“…scatter thou the people (that) delight in war.”

Psalm 68:30

“A wise man is strong…For by wise counsel thou shalt make thy war: and in multitude of counsellors (there is) safety.”

Proverbs 24:5,6

“(There is) a time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.”

Eccl. 3:8

“Wisdom (is) better than weapons of war: but one sinner destroyeth much good.”

Eccl. 9:18

And there were those who came saying “Peace, peace; when (there is) no peace.”

Jer.6:14

I have been asked to make comment on the proposed war with Iraq. I will do so briefly, because what I say is my own perception of the situation.  I expect the usual commentators to make their stern remarks, telling me that they are right and I am, of course, very wrong! So be it.

As I have pointed out to some, my view of the Middle Eastern problem is gleaned not just from the common media, but also from a vast number of independent sources, both pro- and anti- war, pro- and anti- Israel, pro- and anti- Palestine, and so on. I doubt if most of my critics have such a wide selection of sources at their disposal!

Having said that, I cannot say ultimately who is right and who is wrong. That is because I am not privy to the counsels of war in every nation. I can only do what others do (including my critics) – observe and come to what I hope is a rational decision.

Concerning Iraq, I begin again with an observation from my own life, especially from my time in a psychiatric hospital in charge of violent killers. Very often, these men would goad and push others to their limit. Then, just before the goaded person retaliated, they would back off and the one they goaded would be left in a state of high alert and anger, with seemingly no reason to retaliate.

This often happened to staff, too, whose reactions were restrained by professional training and attitude. But, there came a time, often imperceptible to observers, when the staff member had to end the conflict once and for all, by a ‘pre-emptive strike’, knowing from experience that if he did not, the violent one would himself attack at his own leisure, when a state of alert was dampened down.

Police on the front line and soldiers who have seen battle will understand what I am saying. They will also agree that there comes one defining, the golden opportunity, when a pre-emptive strike is offered on a plate. Miss that and the mess will continue. I have faced too many violent men, and been involved in too many violent incidents, to dismiss this fact of life.

Iraq has played the tyrant for decades. It is killing its own people. Sadly, that is up to the people, who must stand up and fight back. But, Iraq is also a supporter and supplier of terrorists.

The USA has been accused of wanting war to secure oil reserves, as if this was a crime. It is not. Look at the wars in scripture and see the instructions for obtaining booty and wealth! Presently oil is vital to the world and its economy, so its security is an important factor. It should not be the only reason for war, but it features in this case, and legitimately so.

Much is made of the starving children who die in their thousands in Iraq “because of the sanctions”. Friends, how many African and Occidental countries do you know of, that have mistreated their own people? They spend on arms and retaining tyrants in wealth. They care nothing for their people, including the children. The starving and dying children in Iraq are the result of Iraq’s blunt refusal to act wisely and because its leader deliberately starves them.

What of the ‘thousands of innocent people who will die if there is war’? Again, Iraq has used its own people as shields before. They will not hesitate to do so again. Scripture says that a wise king will examine the facts and see if his army can win against a superior force, before leading his people into war. Saddam Hussein cares nothing for this and will not move his people from the war zone, so some will indeed die, not because of the invading army, but because of his own vicious decisions.

If ‘thousands’ die it will be because Saddam is using his own people as shields. As we saw in the Gulf War, the attacks were as precise as they could be, with no intention to harm non-combatants.

The golden opportunity to get rid of Saddam Hussein was the Gulf War. How many of us watched with amazement when the armies stopped short of going into Iraq and seizing him? Since that time he has played cat and mouse with stronger nations, creating intense anger and frustration. Their current anger is well justified.

In a recent UN statement, Dr Hans Blix, who led the Inspections, said that although Iraq was now cooperating (but, at the time of writing Iraq has again refused to cooperate), it could not, or would not, state where stocks of chemical weapons had gone. Some months ago, it was reported that Iraq had sent many scientists to stay in Libya and other sympathetic countries. He had conveyed weapons out of the country by rail and road. His delaying tactics had a good reason!

In itself Iraq is weak and Saddam Hussein is a power-crazed, clever, ruthless man, but minor on the world stage. Yet, he promotes and uses violence. At one time bin Laden called Saddam a traitor to Islam, but he or his followers have recently advised him to fight any war with great force. The terrorist link is there.

If war occurs it is not against Islam, but against those who are intent on doing us harm. Today, pacifists claim that a pre-emptive war would be morally wrong. Even churches are saying this. Look at the Old Testament and you will find God Himself waging war against many nations. On most of these occasions, He commanded total obliteration! And many of the wars were pre-emptive, made against peoples who hated Him or hated Israel.

Do not tell me that war is now defunct and may not be waged! I am not a pacifist, nor should any Christian be a pacifist. There are times when war is inevitable, including pre-emptive strikes. But, these must be committed alongside the counsel of many counsellors, as scripture says. Not so much to see if the war is just, but to see if we can win.

Ah, you might say, but the New Testament says we must live at peace with everyone. No, it says that we must live in peace so far as we are able. In other words, there may come a time when peace is not an option and those who oppose us must be dealt with promptly and with strength. This is done on smaller scales in all free countries…police arrest criminals, psychopaths are locked up in mental institutions, men defend their families, and so on.

The worst thing a government can do (as pre-Second World War Britain knew) is to ignore the warning signs of impending doom. If the world had acted sooner against Islamic terrorist-defending countries, perhaps the atrocity of September 11th may not have occurred. But even if it did, a mechanism would have been in place to exact swift justice. We have no such mechanism, so terrorists can do what they like.

Do I call for war with Iraq? I think that the Inspectors should be given more time, but only a few weeks. This is because Saddam Hussein does not give them freedom as an act of peace – he knows that by playing for time, he can plan his hidden strategies better. He has done this for many years as strong countries watch helplessly from the sidelines.

If war is declared, I will indeed support it in principle if it is waged as precisely as possible, only targeting vital points. Inevitably, because of Saddam’s evil ways, some innocent people will be killed, but that’s his fault.

Ultimately, it does not matter what I think, because the current state of the world is reflective of end-times’ prophecy. Whether the USA is the real evil in this activity is almost unimportant, for Satan will move those who are to be moved as time ticks away. He will do so for a short while, waging wars and starting rumours of wars. Men everywhere will jump in reaction and many will die. That is the prophecy!

I bear no hatred toward Saddam Hussein or Iraq. But, I will support war when it is necessary. Nothing in scripture calls me to be a pacifist (who I define as a foolish man who ignores threats against his own life and the lives of his family, in order to sympathise with his killers). Meanwhile, I will live in peace with everyone, so long as I am able, as scripture teaches.

Saddam has words like butter (see Psalms) but his mind is warped by evil and love of violence. We must not delight in war, but must wage it when we have no other avenue. And if war is waged it must be devastating to enemies who wish to continue.

Some readers will remember the time my non-pacifist stance was attacked by Quakers…whose attitudes were themselves violent and even foul-mouthed!! As I watched a TV report on anti-war demonstrators recently, I noted that their leaders were bouncing up and down with foul language and threats of violence toward those who support war against Iraq. Says a lot, eh?

I have also noted that Saddam has lately refused cooperation with the Inspectors, relying on the anti-war protesters around the world who have no idea what they are doing. Some are travelling to Iraq to form an human shield. Do they think Saddam is grateful? Of course he is – he will use them as he uses his own people, to get his own way, and after the war is done, he will not thank them, but will spit on their graves in derision, that they were so foolish!

Just before this edition is to be sent out, we hear that Saddam poisoned one of his generals, who was going to tell the Inspectors where Scud missiles had been hidden. Saddam is playing the world for fools. This has been made easy by those who want peace, not war,…at any cost. Peace now means worse carnage later, so it must be dealt with right now. Many of you know my admiration for David, before and after he became king. He was a true hero, who fought evil and evil men even when he was afraid. Today, leaders are without back-bone and will bow low before any dictator who throws a bomb in their direction. I hate war, but will not recoil from one if it is necessary.

Muslim extremists will do this whether or not we submit to them. They want us to obey their ‘allah’  who is only one god amongst many (he is not our God) in the true Muslim hierarchy…see how many are enshrined in their holiest place! We either stand and fight now, or react with shock later just as we did before Hitler began his vile work in earnest.

Asylum Seekers

I have already reported on the reason why the UK is experiencing a sharp rise in TB after decades of almost nil incidences. We now read that the government is to re-introduce TB testing of asylum seekers. It is also to test for HIV, as incidences of this, too, have risen sharply due to the huge influx of ‘refugees’.

How many more diseases are we to be given by these people? Why have we got to put up with disease, crime, and a decline in public services, when we have paid our taxes, but money is going to those who have no right to be here? This has nothing to do with race or creed, but with legalities and the basic rights of a genuine citizen, which are being crushed in favour of those who act illegally.

Do you think this has nothing to do with Christians? Do not be so naïve. Apart from watching the disintegration of our public services as more of our money is being lavished on illegal asylum seekers, we are also watching our own decline and loss of civil freedoms, as foreign gods are replacing Christian truth and spiritual freedoms. And, as a bonus, we are being made sick as well!

Yesterday an asylum seeker arrived at my office door looking for work. She was supposed to have been interviewed by my superior, but she asked me to do it instead. The lady was from Zimbabwe…maybe. I did the interview, but found the whole thing odd.

Normally, we do police checks and request to see passports, driving licences, utility bills, national insurance numbers, etc., as proof of identity. But, all this lady had was a single sheet letter from the Home Office giving her full rights to everything a UK citizen has. I have a copy now and it is most revealing.

Basically, this lady can move about at will, have a job, get money from the state and get immediate health care. But, what disturbs me is that the only proof we have for this lady’s identity is the letter! She told me that the Home Office has retained all her documents and that she is living with a cousin/sister one road away from my own home.

Just an hour before this interview, my superior and I had to investigate an alleged assault on a resident by a member of staff, who was then suspended. Yet, here I had an African lady coming for a job that requires full police checks, but no real way of verifying her identity!

The Home Office letter had an individual’s name and address on it. But, without further proofs, we have no idea as to whether or not the lady I saw was the lady the letter was addressed to! I do not know if the letter is being passed on to a whole bunch of asylum seekers.

If she is finally employed by us, the money will be paid into a bank account containing the name of the person on the Home Office letter…but this does not prove that the lady working for us is the same person!

It is highly possible (given the facts already published in this newsletter previously) for dozens of people to work and earn money, using the very same name and address, because we have no proof whatever that the lady I interviewed is who she says she is, and no way to verify who she is. All we have is a single letter.

For all we know, hundreds of people could be using the same single letter in order to gain a huge amount of money collectively. All it takes is one month of work to get thousands of pounds, with no way to trace who gets it.

Of course, the lady may be genuine, but I am trying to make a point about a matter of principle. On the merest suspicion of someone having a police record, a UK person can be sacked from his or her job in our nursing home. But here we have a foreign lady with one letter, who can claim anything she wishes without a shred of evidence that she is who she says she is.

We cannot even do a proper police check on her, because there would be no records of her in the UK and nothing verifiable from her supposed country of origin.

How many asylum seekers are thus becoming assimilated into our system, without vital checks as to their identity? Though I have been publishing warnings about all this for about a year, only now have I personally come across a situation that highlights the failure of government to properly address this issue.

And should we refuse this lady a job on such a basis, no doubt the full weight of the law would be brought to bear upon us! The whole thing is disturbing!

(Addendum…I telephoned my immediate superior to voice my concerns, on my day off, and after some ‘phone calls she discovered that the woman was kicked out from another nursing home for serious reasons! It is not racist to say that all who have come recently to the UK from African countries and who have asked us for jobs want ‘easy money’, their attitude toward caring is dismal, and they expect us to give them every opportunity to have cash without actually doing anything for it. That’s a fact from our point of view, and it has made us very wary).

A move by government to stop state benefits for those who don’t ask for asylum when they enter the country has been thwarted by our judges! They are challenging this under the terms of the ludicrous Human Rights Bill, and are succeeding, allowing all kinds of terrorists into the UK. This is deplorable and I doubt very much if the judges who think they are being so clever would allow asylum seekers to live next door to them!

Depression Not Sin?

A correspondent is adamant that I am totally wrong about depression. I am told that whilst depression may be the result of ‘original’ sin, depression itself is not sin, just as a broken leg is not sin. With respect for the person who said this, a broken leg is not the same as depression.

Depression is a manifestation of anxiety and anxiety is alluded to as sin in scripture. Therefore, depression is sin. That is simple logic. Interestingly, I have had confirmations sent by others who have been caught in the same sinful trap, but who have torn themselves free of it. They agree with my definitions and assessment of depression and say that they now live full lives without depression.

So, who is right? The one who constantly lives in the shadow of debilitating depression, an anxiety that robs him or her of joy and peace? Or the one who has seen depression for what it is – sin – and has got rid of it, confirming that a life in Christ does not include sinfully hiding away in dark corners?

One can have a broken leg and still know the deep joy of Christ. But the depressive cannot. I know who is right on this matter…do you?

Israel…Who?

I continue to be charged with Zionism! Friends, scripture says that the nation of Israel is not to be derided. Note that in The Revelation, 21:12, it is the names of the 12 tribes of Israel that are written on the gates of the new Jerusalem, even though only a remnant will be saved from them! Not the names of the gentiles, but of the Jews.

In Hebrews 8:10 we find reference to the new covenant being made with the ‘house of Israel’ not the gentiles (though we also share this new covenant). Nowhere do we read in scripture that Israel is to be cast aside permanently by God. Not in one instance!

The new covenant in this text refers not to gentiles but to the ‘house of Israel’ and the ‘house of Judah’ spoken of in Hebrews 8:8. God did not say that He was cutting Israel adrift forever. No, He says that He would make a new covenant with them! This was a ‘better’ covenant – and it refers very plainly to Israel itself, not to the gentiles.

The rites of the Jews are indeed abolished, but why do you think God speaks of those who are unsaved as being “aliens from the commonwealth of Israel” if Israel is cut off permanently? (Ephesians 2:12). It is because He links those who are truly ‘of Israel’ (Jews who are His) with those who are gentiles and also saved!

It is wrong to ascribe this salvation only to gentiles, because the word ‘Israel’ bears reference to both gentiles and Jews! Not to recognise this is to adulterate proper interpretation of the word in scripture.

In Romans 11:26 we find that “all Israel shall be saved”. Please – don’t try to argue that this refers to ‘new Israel’ because it does not – it refers to “the Deliverer (Who) shall turn away ungodliness from Jacob”. This can only mean Israel itself. This is so obvious as to be painful, for the text goes on to identify them as “enemies for your sakes…(but) beloved for the fathers’ sakes”.

God continues to love them because His gifts are “without repentance”. They will later “obtain mercy” (verse 31). They are presently locked into unbelief, but will one day know salvation. What mere humans think of all this is, frankly, irrelevant.

This blindness will remain until all the Gentiles God has elected have come to salvation (Romans 11:25). We are advised not to be “ignorant of this mystery”. The elect Jews will know salvation for they will know “life from the dead” (verse 15). Gentiles are said to be branches grafted on to the true root (Israel)…Jews are not grafted onto gentiles!! Israel, the root, is said to be ‘holy’…only some of the branches are broken off, not the whole root!

Thus we are called not to be “highminded, but (to) fear” because if God cut off natural branches, He will not spare those who are only grafted in to the holy root and warns gentiles of this.

“hath God cast away His people?” (verse 1) “God forbid”!! “For I also am an Israelite, of the seed of Abraham…God hath not cast away His people which he foreknew” who He calls a ‘remnant’.

I could go on. I have no time for conspiracy theories that ascribe all ills to the Jews. Nor do I believe that God has permanently cast off his former people. I don’t believe it because scripture says otherwise.

I don’t accept everything the Jews do today. I am not a Zionist. I do not believe in paying groups to fill Israel with Jews. I do not think Israel is holy right now. Nor do I uphold all of unsaved Israel’s political decisions. But I believe in scripture, and it tells me not to go against the people God chose in ancient times. “God forbid”. My acceptance of this transcends politics and other considerations and to reduce my words to politics is, well, very naïve and wrong.

I don’t understand how Christians can believe the anti-Jew trash that continues to be found in certain circles. I am grafted in to the true olive tree, and scripture says I am not to be filled with pride at this. Nor am I to denigrate the Jews, from whom will come not just many saved in the last days, but to whom the mantle of Gospel preaching will be given, when it will be taken from the gentiles. How can this be possible if God has permanently cast them aside?

Please, use Biblical truth, not knowledge from men’s books! No more on this matter, please. Any further argument must be done with God, Whose word is final and made very plain. I am not closed to discussion of the truth and do not fear criticism, but I am closed to further useless argument based on false theology and bad interpretation.

Some hold to a view that can only be called fascist – that we can blame the Jews for every bad thing in this world, and that they are ‘historically’ out to rule the world! Friends, this is a nasty piece of propaganda, and its ‘truth’ depends on who is writing the history!

Hitler held to the same views and the result is always hatred and fear. Christians must instead see the Jews as God’s chosen nation, but who are presently out of His favour, needing salvation just like everyone else.

I have no time for the many conspiracy theories that slop around the churches like pig-swill, causing countless Christians to spend wasted hours reading into events the ideas of a few ‘informed’ men. It would be better if these good folk spent their time in Bible reading (without using the theories), prayer, and meditation that arises from scripture.

By their very nature conspiracy theories can never be proved or disproved. This amounts to nothing but speculation, which can ruin Christian lives. If scripture says it, or if events can be solidly linked with perpetrators, then that is fine. But conspiracy theories leave me cold and prove nothing.

I have said recently that I do not wish to receive, or enter into, arguments on certain matters, such as this one. Of course (as usual) I am wrong and must endure the pages of theory and misinterpretation sent to me by post or email, or be labelled unbalanced in my teaching. This is not the case – once I know my ground I have no time for argument from an opposite (and wrong) perspective. I have no time to waste on silly or speculative debates.

That is why I do not wish to receive counter-arguments. If my view is based solely on scripture, then I cannot, by definition, be wrong!! If that was good enough for Paul, then it is certainly good enough for me! Arrogant? If you think that, you’d better cast that little pearl of wisdom at the Lord, Whose word you are wrongly interpreting.

Asylum Seekers…Again!

Numbers rose by over 20% in 2002 (111,000 that we officially know of – there are many more who got in unawares). They will go even higher this year. The UK now takes a whacking ONE THIRD of all the world’s asylum seekers, whilst the rest of Europe have reduced their intake by 52%.

These are official figures that many experts say are drastically under-estimated. They say that the true figure of illegal immigrants hiding in the UK is a massive THREE MILLION. They hide because they are illegals, not because they are poor people fearful of their lives in their own countries!

I keep repeating for those who have sympathy for such elements, that large numbers of these people are criminals, or terrorists. Others simply want to sponge off our golden benefits without giving anything back to the country. Some, as has been discovered, obtain huge sums from our state benefit system to fund terrorism! I refer particularly to hook-handed Abu Hamza, who preached hatred, and supported and hid terrorists in his London mosque. He got into the UK by having a sham marriage.

The cost to UK taxpayers is about to reach – wait for it - a staggering £2 billion!! This is not to keep valid and genuine asylum seekers, but to maintain and enrich illegals! Some might say that my use of this word is ‘inflammatory’. So be it, because that is exactly what illegal entrants are. They commit an illegal offence by entering the UK without permission. Therefore, they are ‘illegals’. That is why I am against churches naively offering these people assistance. They may very well be giving funds and resources to those who only wish to kill them, and us.

Mr Blair says that the situation is out of his control. Bunkum!! All we need to do is to stop asylum applications immediately. Stop people at our ports and airports. Kick out illegals as soon as they are found, with no chance of an appeal. Do not give money or any other resources other than basic shelter and food, to those who are being investigated. Then we would see a big reduction in applicants!!

Asylum seekers will, according to the United Nations (The Times, 27th February 2003), cause the UK to increase its population by seven and a half million by 2050!!  This will make it the fastest growing nation in the EU. Add to this the new explosion in AIDS, TB and other diseases, all caused by illegal immigrants, and the UK can look forward to a very real fall!

Falsity in our Health Service

A lady who once was in charge of waiting lists at Weston Hospital, UK, has resigned after being forced to manipulate waiting list figures to comply with government demands. People were routinely removed from the lists without their knowledge and replaced again later, to satisfy audit figures. This is going on all over the UK. As a precaution, the lady removed certain documents and will not return them. I don’t blame her. She’s a brave lady whose example ought to be followed.

New Tower of Babel – the EU

A short while ago I mused that the EU is a new type of Tower of Babel, as European leaders try to make their own way to great power…with the pope’s head on EU coins and Rome as its base. I say this because I saw a short amusing piece in the Daily Telegraph that used the same illustration. It seems that even unbelievers have come to the same conclusion! (Page 27, March 1st, 2003).

The piece referred to the decision to add God’s name to the proposed written EU constitution. The writer, pretending to be a lawyer acting on behalf of God, says that God once threw the nations into disarray when they dared to build the Tower of Babel, so if the EU wishes to put His name on the document, He would “seek redress to the full extent of the – by which we mean His – Law.”

Irreverent yes, but accurate! To put God’s name on a document that joins peoples under Romish rule is tantamount to an evil equal to that of Babel. God will indeed exact redress, when He tears down the powers of Rome in the end days. The writer of the short quip did not realise it, but his words are prophetic and Biblical!

Stealing the Limelight

Traditionally, UK monarchs do not attend the enthronement of new Archbishops of Canterbury. They stay away because they think the churchman should have all the glory on that day. Hm!!

400 guests were invited to a special dinner hosted by the Nikaean Club, named after the first ecumenical council at Nicea in 325 AD and set-up in 1925. Its purpose is to provide hospitality for non-Anglican celebrants, including Orthodox, Pentecostal, Reformed, Methodist and other churches. Sounds rather like an EA gathering!! The new archbishop, Rowan Williams, is a disaster for Anglicanism, which is already on the brink of irrelevance.

It is sad that archbishops should exist at all, having no basis in scripture, or that they are enthroned anyway. This has no foundation in the teachings of the Church.

Rather, as in Paul’s writings, the role of great preachers, such as the apostles, was far more humble – Paul referring to themselves as deacons of the Gospel, of no higher importance than the lowliest of Christians.

Williams suitably protests at the profile he is receiving, yet he continues to enjoy all the pomp and ceremony due to those who think they are elite!

Willow Creek Meddling

Many churches in the UK follow the unbiblical example of Bill Hybels and his Willow Creek church, USA. The latest activity must have angered many US citizens. He decided to get a Muslim cleric to explain Islam to his congregation over four separate Sundays! Apart from anything else, this is a totally unscriptural way to use a church meeting.

Hybels thinks that Christians and others are spreading “half truths” about violence and Islam. The Imam told the congregation that he did not believe the killers of September 11th were Muslim, because the Koran does not teach violence! (He must have got a different version!).

The Imam then told the congregation (or should that read ‘audience’??) that Muslims believed in Jesus more than Christians did, even though He was not as important as Mohammad. He even made light of the term ‘jihad’.

After his talk church members said they were surprised at how much Muslims had in common with Christians, even though he openly uttered hatred for Israel. Hybels did not challenge any of the Imam’s statements and that makes him a very bad pastor. No true pastor deliberately opens up members to evil and false gospels. Of course, Willow Creek-ers around the world defended Hybel…but he cannot be defended by scripture.

Bear this in mind – thousands of Muslims protested in Times Square, USA, against democracy, and demanded that the UK should adopt a feudalistic Islamic form of government.

As we have shown in the Islamic section of our website, people like bin Laden are the true Muslims, not the moderates we find in the UK. Mohammad ‘married’ a six year old girl and had sex with her. Old Saudi men buy little girls from India for sex, and say that this is okay because Mohammad did it! Muslims still continue the appalling rite of clitorectomy, even on very young Christian girls.

Thus, in Islamic countries, Muslims practice paedophilia and polygamy because Mohammad practiced them. And, of course, there are the hundreds of thousands of people murdered by Muslims because of their Christianity. All of this Willow Creek supports and condones by inviting a Muslim to speak without challenge.

Psychology from Satan?

I have heard many Christians say that psychology is from Satan, but that psychiatry is from God. Trouble is, they don’t know what they are talking about. Psychiatry is rooted in psychology, so condemn one and you condemn the other.

There is no problem with psychology so long as you define the rules. Psychology looks at mental and emotional activities and attempts to explain why they happen. Then it tries to predict what will happen in given similar circumstances. It is merely a branch of ‘science’ (using ‘science’ in its proper sense) in which observable actions are interpreted.

Most of psychology falls down at the point of interpretation, where sometimes absurdity overtakes reality. But, the observations may have been spot-on.

Same goes for psychiatry, which is why I no longer take heed of, or practice, the theories of either psychiatry or psychology. Even so, the observations of both camps can be very useful. It is the interpretations of both sciences that are risky and maybe even ungodly, not necessarily the observations. I came to this conclusion in my Master’s thesis in psychology.

As Christians we must be careful in what we disown and call ‘Satanic’. We can apply the same reasoning to many physical sciences, which meticulously examine and document facts and figures, but fall down in their interpretation of those facts, by attributing them to evolution…which does not, of course, exist. Even so, the findings of science still ‘work’ regardless of interpretation.

Psychology and psychiatry can be very useful in documenting past behaviour, which can be used to predict future behaviour, because people are quite habitualistic in their patterns of life.

These patterns are also used to diagnose conditions like dementia, etc. And these aspects of the two sciences really do work! I am not a fan of either, but I do know that they have certain qualities.

Psychiatry used for the diagnosis and treatment of such physical conditions as dementia is mainly acceptable, but used to treat emotional and mental problems, non-acceptable. The first is based on actual observations, but the second is based on speculation and a wrong view of sin.

On the other hand, diagnosis of these ‘conditions’ is usually quite accurate. See how the general Christian view is simplistic and unrealistic?

SpiraBooks

One of my co-workers, Mike Ford, is steaming through the ‘lost’ SpiraBooks at high-speed! He has already copied two of them onto computer disk, using a brand new copier, and I thank him for spending long hours at the task. I also thank his wife, Les, for her longsuffering!

Now that I have these two books on disk, I must check them against the paper copies, and then format them ready for printing. All the books should therefore be ready for purchase again, fairly soon.

ARE WE?

“For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish: to the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life. And who is sufficient (worthy) for these things? For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.”
