Assessment of a
'Toronto Blessing' Meeting
Led By Rodney Howard Browne

(Held July 1994, Kentucky, USA)

By: K. B. Napier

(The report is based on a video presentation entitled: 'The Rodney Howard Browne Evangelistic Association Welcomes You To Signs and Wonders Campmeeting 1994'.  It is my conviction that attendance at a meeting personally would be total folly - hence reliance on such sources, rather on a personal visit. As the video was produced by Browne's own Association it can be accepted as authentic.  Other, similar, videos confirm this).

As I watched this four hour video presentation, I felt sick to my stomach at the display of abandonment and evil shown in the meeting.  One by one, well-known Christians (?) shook Brown's hand and praised him for what he had done. This was accompanied by vile perversions of 'gifts' and phenomena that should frighten any right-thinking Believer.

Some pastors boasted that they had attended only one meeting in order to have first-hand knowledge, that they may go back to warn their own flocks.  But, inevitably, their spiritual pride caught them out and they succumbed very quickly to the demons who so clearly operate in these meetings.  This should be a dire warning to all who foolishly believe that they are strong enough to withstand Satan!  It only takes a few minutes in a 'Toronto Blessing' meeting for a person to fall.  Do not think you will be an exception - the consequences could be disastrous.  Never underestimate Satan or his power.  On the other hand, do not be scared by it, either, for the Lord Jesus Christ has won a victory over Satan and all the powers he can use.  Just be careful and do not deliberately place yourself in a position of great danger.

I personally believe that those who do attend such meetings to 'find out for themselves' are spiritually immature and have no discernment.  The signs are so obvious that even a young Believer ought to be on his guard.  We are told by God to shun even the appearance of evil - so what are 'mature' Believers doing by deliberately walking into meetings where evil reigns supreme?  Any Believer who thinks he can simply walk into a Satanic nest without being harmed begins on the path of delusion.  Another point to be made is that some Christians are shocked that their friends should be so duped by the Toronto experience.  Let us be blunt - no matter how orthodox these friends may have seemed to be in the past, the fact that they attended a meeting in the first place, indicates that something was missing in their lives.  What was missing was a real understanding of Who God is and what the Christian life is all about.  The Toronto fiasco was merely the trip-wire that triggered off their new found (false) spirituality.  Thus, their past spirituality was only a sham, a profession without substance.

The following comments are made in chronological sequence.

Browne refers to the current phenomenon as a 'revival'.  Others call it a 'refreshing', giving the whole thing several levels of possibility! It seems that the 'refreshing' leads to a 'revival' and the 'revival' leads to something even greater - a 'Full awakening'!?  Let readers (and especially those charismatics who so willfully misuse scriptural words and concepts) understand that the word 'refreshing' is used only twice in all of scripture - once in the Old Testament and once in the New.  In the New, the word for 'refreshing' is anapsuxis, meaning to be delivered from fiery trials.  I challenge charismatic leaders to tell me exactly what 'fiery trials' they have been through lately, to receive a special 'refreshing' from the Lord?  There have been none, of course - it is just that, typically, charismatics have totally misused the word as a substitute for some kind of sub-revival!

I find this matter (several levels leading to revival and beyond) a very convenient way to hedge one's bets.  If the appearance of the phenomenon is not so spectacular, then it can be called a mere 'refreshing' (even though the word has nothing at all to do with the issue).  But if it gains in momentum, it will be a revival.  If it gets even more spectacular, it surely must be an 'awakening'!  Excellent strategy on the part of charismatic leaders, we must readily admit.  Not Biblical, but good planning!

First speaker on platform.  A pastor.

This man is clearly in distress, yet with an odd tenacious acceptance of what is going on in his own life.  Very strange.  It is like accepting the existence of a knife thrust into your body because someone else has said it is good for you!  It really hurts and causes much distress, but you allow it to remain.  Odd indeed.

He cannot speak until he takes a pace backward saying (to Browne): "Could you stand just a little bit farther away please".  From the look on this pastor's face and from his obvious unease (drawing much laughter from the huge audience - I refuse to call them a 'congregation'), there is something seriously wrong here. My own perception is that his spirit fears Browne (or the power he wields) but his mind is being manipulated by demons, and he overcomes his inner, rightful fear given by the Holy Spirit.

Then comes a typical statement - the man praises Browne, not God, for giving him this new 'blessing'.  Browne comes closer and the pastor says "Lord help me".  The audience, of course, lap this up and interpret the statement as praise for God, as does Browne.  However, seeing the look of distress on this man's face, I interpret this statement as a call for God to release him from his bondage.  If God is prompting him to speak - WHY does he look so afraid and distressed?  WHY is he being stopped from speaking by the presence of Browne?  I repeat - this man was either possessed or oppressed by demons (the difference depends on whether or not the man is saved).  The signs were there before us and I have seen them in others.  Yet, both audience and Browne were delighted by it all!

The audience clapped wildly and laughed raucously.  This laughter continued for several hours throughout the meeting.  Some sounded like witches' cackling.  When the man finally was able to speak, he said "(Despite) terrible things (happening) in our lives...we have not stopped laughing!"  This made me feel terribly sad for the fellow, as he uttered such an unbiblical and ridiculous thing.  It takes a quantum leap, a drastic shift in spiritual awareness, for a pastor to utter such nonsense in public.  No man of God can seriously say such a thing.  But, of course, he wasn't - he began to laugh!

Another typical statement was then made - one I have heard many times over - that since Brown visited his church, they have had no financial problems.  Rather, they have experienced an increase in wealth!  We must remember that Browne, like many charismatic leaders, is a 'health and wealth' teacher.  What better buttress for a false teaching than for a whole church to experience an increase in wealth!  This increase is taken to be a 'sign' of God's presence and so whatever follows must also be a sign of His presence.  And so Satan builds his church, laughing all the way.

Also typically, the pastor said that since Browne 'preached' to them and 'brought' the 'Blessing' to them, the church has been more "bonded together".  Time and again I have heard this being offered as a 'proof' of God's presence. But, the Hitler Youth and the Nazi Party were all 'bonded together'.  The glazed-eye brigade who followed Jim Jones to their deaths were all 'bonded together in love'!  This, of itself, is not proof of true love for either God or for others.  Indeed, scripture tells us that true love for the Brethren or for God is only possible "in Truth". Thus we may properly conclude that whatever the bond in these 'Blessing' churches is, it cannot be the bond of God's Holy Spirit love.

The pastor finished by saying that "By he grace of God I'm going to laugh my way into heaven!".  Louder clapping and laughter for this blasphemous statement.

President of Oral Roberts University on platform.

As soon as he is introduced by Browne, he literally doubles up in uncontrollable laughter, leaning against a lectern for support.  Another man stands near him, trying to support him, but he, too, laughs uncontrollably.  Both fell to the floor laughing.

3rd speaker on platform.  This man began in what appeared to be reverential quietness. He referred to the 'awesome holiness of God' etc., drawing fresh raucous laughter from the audience.  During a serious speech about God's presence and joy, he suddenly broke into laughter, falling to the floor!  God present?  Hardly!  Does God make fun of His own presence, or of His own work?  No!

President of O.R. University again!  Still laughing.

As he blubbered he tried to speak but burst into more laughter, touching his lips.  He said "My lips won't work!", again to laughter from the audience and from Browne, who thought it was hilarious.

The man then started to flap his coat, saying "Oh, it's hot" (another supposed sign of the presence of God!) as he continued to show signs of heat.  He was laughing throughout, as was everyone else.  He then said "God gave me a word of knowledge of someone healed of deafness."  Even if he did receive an indication of someone healed - it was NOT a word of 'knowledge', because the gift of 'knowledge' does not mean that! (See BTM Article on Gifts).  This remarkable lack of understanding by the leader of a big, supposedly Christian, university is again typical of the ignorance displayed by many charismatic leaders today, as they substitute their own meanings for those of scripture.

Another anecdote from this academic brought the house down...he was relating how he tried to stop a man in a 'Blessing' meeting from falling down.  But, instead, he went down with him, doing a complete somersault!  This kind of stunt was, of course, meant to be just as much a part of God's presence and activity, as is laughing. He further showed his ignorance by linking the laughter with "joy began to bubble up in me".  The joy of the Lord has nothing at all to do with laughing like an idiot!  During a more sober speech, there was more raucous laughter.  He says he prays in tongues.

He told how the university had a $40 million debt (!!!). But, of course, Browne changed all that!  The president said "I heard the Holy Spirit say 'You're going to laugh as I pay off your $40 million debt!".  What incredible naiveté on the part of that man.  Then he said "I was into my spirit - I got my spirit man up over my mental man, so that I could believe."  EH???  He then talked about a later problem with money.  As he sat in his office, a subordinate entered the room and told him of another $85,000 debt.  The president simply started to laugh uncontrollably and fell off his chair.  Later that day, he said, a cheque arrived for $¼ million - and again fell off his chair laughing.  Even later, a man entered his office with a $1 million cheque.  Satan thus bought the president of Oral Roberts University with 30 pieces of silver!  He is now a willing dupe of the Toronto Blessing.

The same man said that he "made" all 4,000 students at the university attend a Browne meeting so that they could "have the Spirit".  Every one of them fell down after being touched by Browne and laughed uncontrollably inside the auditorium and outside on the grass.  Does that frighten you?  It should!  Then, the president made his most telling statement, which gives us the true reason for this visitation by Satan: "Many of us are having to rethink our theology".  That, my friends, is what this whole sorry spectacle is all about.  It's not really about manifestations, or gifts, or fruit - it's about Satan changing theology so that the world will submit to his wiles.  That includes submission to his great masterpiece, Rome.  Everything we see and hear happening in 'Blessing' meetings is to this end.  They are just symbols of what is really happening - the coming about of Biblical prophecy concerning the end-times' apostasy.

The man finished his appalling speech by saying that his small daughter was also affected.  She spoke in tongues and laughed all night - she even fell out of her bed four times during the night because of her incessant laughter. Sadly, this man, who introduced his own small daughter to Satan, "praises God for it".  I can assure readers that the outcome of that episode in his daughter's short life will be a twisted theology and possibly the refusal of God's true Gospel of Grace.  God help that young girl, whose own father has so easily and willingly given her over to an evil he has himself imbibed.

Next speaker. Another pastor.  He suddenly went blank and could not speak for several minutes.  He obviously could see nothing and the impression was of a man who was 'not there' in spirit.  My interpretation is based on past experience - that man was blatantly affected by demons.  It was not hysteria or any other psychological disturbance.  I have seen it before and it was horrific to watch.  Again, whilst the man was not aware of his surroundings or of the immense laughter around him, he was expressing inner fear on his face.  Just beforehand, he also praised Browne.  As soon as the man said "He (Brown) put his hand on my head and...", he went completely blank, but still was able to turn his head slowly to 'look' at Browne with unseeing eyes.  He made several small gulping movements of the throat and mouth and started to sway. The distress was clear but everyone thought it was hilarious.  There was no sign at all of human life in him, or of recognition.  It was as if there was someone else within his body, looking at Browne.  And that is exactly what was happening.  He was a man overtaken by demons.  More raucous laughter as he slumped to the floor, where he cried, with a look of distress on his face.

Next pastor.   This man, too, could not speak properly, as he slurred and words came out very slowly - another sign of the demonic.  All he could manage was a very difficult "Oh God..." as he stumbled over just a few words.  He struggled but was not enjoying it, yet the audience and Browne interpreted it as God's presence.  It was, rather, the poor man's spirit crying out for God to help him overcome the evil within!  Raucous laughter.

After a while, he laughed slightly.  Browne evidently thought that it was all very funny, as he gave a sideways grin to the audience.  The man's thought processes were seriously affected as his words came out slurred and with immense difficulty. Again "Lord help me!" was all he could muster.  The he started to laugh strangely.  Part of his laughter was mingled with the words "Ho...Ho..." and an elongated "Ho-ooooo!".  For readers who have not read the relevant Article, Browne himself uses this word "Ho" and "Ha", etc.  These are the proper names of demonic beings.  They are not 'laughter', but are cleverly mixed with the outbursts of laughter, as if to hide them.  Thus the pathos of the matter is, that the man was thought to be laughing, when he was, in fact, invoking demons!  He continued by drawing in huge gasps of air and shouting loudly (invoking more demons): "Ah...Ah...Ho...".  His eyes were very peculiar (sign of demons within) and he again shouted "God!" and then "Ooh...Ooh..." in a very high pitched and unnatural voice - which, in all probability, was not his own voice.

He had no control whatever and kept repeating "Okay, okay, okay" and "Oh, Jesus help me!" to rising raucous laughter.  Yet, his face was contorted with fear and distress!  He continued in his distress: "And...and...then...um...so, so...so then..." before collapsing. Then "Oh, Oh, Oh...Oooo, alright...I, I, and...I already said that (Browne laughed and prompted him by 'filling in' the lost words)...I, I, uh...."  The man could not make a single sentence and his distress was my own as I watched the poor man being torn apart by taunting demons.  After many minutes of this distress, he suddenly shouted "Oh, Jesus..." and then burst out in 'tongues'.  As he spoke in his false 'tongues', his whole body stance and his eyes altered in appearance - yet another sign of demonic presence.  Then, after a few minutes, he reverted to his stuttering and faltering over words.  A moment came in this extended scene of spiritual vileness, when the man suddenly began to speak properly, as if he had been 'switched on'.  In reality, this was when the demons stopped sporting with him.

When he finally started to speak, he said how he attended a Browne meeting specifically so as he could warn his own flock with first-hand knowledge.  It was not his intention to get involved, but only to observe.  I would add at this juncture that the local leaders in my own city urged me to attend a meeting, so that I could see what was going on for myself.  I refused flatly, saying that I would not deliberately place my head into the lion's mouth.  Also, I said, I knew the whole thing to be demonic and needed no other proof.  To attend, just once, is not enough to protect a person.  You may say that God will protect - but why should He, when the proof is so obvious even without attendance?

One clue, though, was that he was "raised a Pentecostal" and whilst he had never experienced anything 'supernatural' he was more than familiar with the idea of things happening to others.  He went on to say: "The fire of God comes all right through me...I started crying...my hand starts shaking...the glory of God hit me so strong."  When he returned to his own church, he merely said that God had touched him - and the members were all affected also.  That is, the same 'power' he had was passed on by him - the way demons prefer to travel from one place to another. This is unlike the Holy Spirit, Who gives His favours to whom He will at any time, anywhere, not requiring human links.

One morning, his wife had a headache and he placed his hand upon her head to pray for the headache to stop.  Then, the "power of God" pushed her forcefully backward on the bed.  In another meeting, he says, he was "drunk in the spirit" - another typically charismatic statement without Biblical support - so 'drunk' in fact that he was lurching about in the car-park and could not possibly drive.  Others helped him stagger to his car, but he suddenly started to jump up and down "like a crazy man".  So he was put in the back seat and someone else sat in the driver's seat.  The 'drunk' pastor leaned forward and touched the new driver's shoulder.  Immediately, that man, too, started to shake and made a noise "like a siren".  Another man pulled the driver from the seat and tried to drive - but the same happened to him.  The same was repeated with others, so that no-one was able to drive!  To attribute all this to the Holy Spirit is blasphemy.

On another occasion, the pastor was standing in a restaurant with Browne, with two other men, waiting for a table.  Suddenly, they all collapsed against the walls crying.  At a later meeting, he tried to speak, but was dumb.

In three weeks of meetings, Browne thus affected over 400 pastors.  The meetings were all arranged by the pastor who initially was sceptical.  The Satanic ploy is so plain - get the pastors and you get all the church members, too!  A fast, efficient method of control and spreading of evil.  The pastor gave examples of how he had himself "passed on" the 'spirit'.   Some of those affected were unsaved, including Romanist nuns and monks.  As the man said, "I'm not a sceptic anymore".

Once again I repeat a dire warning to all those who think they can beat Satan by withstanding him on his own territory.  Do not try it!  Leave well enough alone, or face the consequences, as did that pastor.   I would also reiterate the case of the man who attended "just once" in order to challenge Brown.  During that meeting he shouted that he did not accept this to be of the Holy Spirit.  But, his pride caused him to attend for the rest of the week, each time shouting out his challenge.  At the end of the week, he walked toward Browne saying "I don't believe it".  And then he collapsed.  He got up and repeated his words - only to fall down again.  By the third time, he changed his mind and became a 'believer' in what was going on, much to Browne's delight.  Do not underestimate Satan or his power!  And do not make the mistake of thinking that it is "all hysterical", for it is not; it is far more menacing and potent.  Any hysteria is superficial, probably put in place by Satan to act as a decoy, to cause Christians not to be too alarmed.

Next people on stage - a couple, both well-published 'Christian' authors.  They said they were both looking for something to write another best-selling book about -  hardly how a Spirit-led Christian writer works!  The woman said "I want to warn you (pointing to Browne, who laughs) that this man is dangerous."  She was just trying to be clever, but she was unwittingly speaking the truth.  They said how they had dedicated their 43rd book to Browne because he had changed their lives...once again, praise for Browne, the supposed servant, rather than for his Master, the Lord God.  They said that since Browne had laid hands on them they had experienced "nothing but holy laughter meetings".  From the way they spoke, frankly, I do not think they could have experienced anything deeper than laughter!  The woman said she had laid hands on a pastor in the UK and he immediately fell to the ground.

Next speaker, a pastor.  Beginning to talk, he erupts into laughter.  Suddenly, his eyes changed unnaturally and he started to blow, losing his ability to speak.  As the man stood staring blankly into space, Browne walked forward to remind the audience that "these men are great Bible teachers" as if that was sufficient to endorse what was happening.  He also said that they all led very big churches.

The pastor made odd noises and looked around without seeing, making strange blowing noises.  He was obviously unaware of what was going on.  Once again, I have no hesitation in saying that the man was totally under the control of demons.  Then, he started to show signs of distress, blowing and uttering "Oh...Oh...Oh...".  Browne said that these men could not testify because they were influenced by signs and wonders!  Have I missed something here?  The pastor then collapsed.  Browne then blasphemously claimed that "It's equivalent to raising Lazarus from the dead...it's real...it's holy and glorious."  Watching it all from the safety of my armchair, I could only thank God that I was not taking part in such an ugly travesty, led by an impostor!

A different pastor came up, just as another collapsed and rolled about on the floor.  He said, for some reason, "We're having revival in the morning!"  He said how his wife had been "jettisoned clean out of her seat and across the auditorium."

Another clue as to the source of the 'Blessing' came when the man praised Browne: "The churches were nearly killed off until God sent Rodney Howard Browne!"  Then he equated laughter with the gift of 'joy' and thanked Browne for Browne!  And he said "Thank God He sent him...it's fun to pastor again!"  Then he invited the audience to "Stretch out your hands and bless this man...release a holy roar of God".  He started to 'pray', broke into 'tongues', and everyone began to clap and hoot.  At that, Browne laughed in a way I can only describe as evil.  It was as if the devil was rejoicing at this mass spectacle of apostasy.  The man then collapsed and another followed likewise. Browne swayed and 'sniffed' several times.  He pointed toward the audience but could not speak.  A woman came across the stage and then could not move.  She patted her own abdomen, puffing loudly.  Standing at the lectern she made faces and then her face changed as she made odd noises.  I repeat - this is evidence of demonic activity.  The orchestra began to play and the woman started to sing a sickly rendition of "It is well with my soul".  Sadly, it was anything but well with her soul.

Then, Browne went to the lectern.  He made two sweeping motions over the audience, sniffing loudly again.  He said nothing for several minutes, because somehow he could not speak.  There was a background of continuous cackling and laughter from the audience, which rarely stopped at any time.  Another sweeping motion over the audience.  This reminded me of someone conferring something on others.  Heavy breathing and more sniffing - not natural - and some inarticulate sounds.  Then he thrust out both palms of his hands toward the audience.  Many more strange movements and screaming, etc.

Browne looked distressed and was blowing hard.  He became quieter and stood looking at the audience, silently, almost motionless.  Loud laughter continued for about 10 minutes. Then, as if snapping out of something, Browne laughed, too, as man did cartwheels down a long aisle before collapsing!  Five minutes more of this and another "respected pastor" (a claim made many times by charismatics everywhere!) jumped up on the stage, waving his arms up and down like a bird flying, shouting and finally collapsing.  I'm not surprised!

Women ran around wildly in circles like voodoo dancers.  Then Browne blew a raspberry at the audience!  There was continuous laughter and mayhem for about 30 minutes.

Then a man got up on stage (a Jew?) to play the violin.  Almost everyone stopped laughing.  This part was a classic big-campaign use of 'heavenly music' and choir, building up to a huge musical and emotional climax.  Had the desired effect, as audience stood swaying with arms stretched upwards.

Browne called on the audience to pray  "the glory of God is in this place tonight. The cloud of God is in this place tonight...we could have gone two ways tonight...and God took it this way."  As he spoke a piano played softly.  Throughout this long meeting there was NO PREACHING.

Browne had 'paid for' a large group of African nationals to come to the USA to attend the meetings.  Of course, Browne had not paid a cent!  It was paid for by donations to his Association!  However...he referred to a pastor who had said there was a 'familiar spirit' in one of his meetings, but made no comment about that.  The same pastor had said that those in the meetings were "under evil spirits".  That man was discerning the Truth!

A woman spoke of being 'drunk in the spirit', even though such is not Biblical.  There was a constant reference to people being "hungry for God", but no attempt was made to explain what was meant by it.  Another constant was that people wanted "more and more of God".  No mention of obedience or of doing what God commands.  The woman and her male companion both blessed Brown and his wife.

A husband and wife said they mainly ministered to poor, black pastors - and laughter erupted.  The man stopped, looking perplexed, but was urged to "keep on talking" by Browne.  Although this man was talking about serious spiritual matters, the laughter increased dramatically.  All the other speakers (except for one) praised Browne, not God.  A woman could not speak, but made a high-pitched sound like "Coo-coo-coo" before collapsing.

Browne repeated "This is wonderful!" and "I see a fire burning, of the Holy Ghost, of the Holy Ghost, of the Holy Ghost", extremely loudly, three times.  As one African said that Christians must live real Christian lives and must be "born of God", everyone was laughing loudly, much to his concern.

One man said that all who rejected the "move" have a "spirit of religion" and that "God does not come in a way we expect".  This appeal to ignore what is so obviously evil is made throughout the charismatic world, to cover what is happening.  Anything and everything, all excesses and vile activities, can be suitably ignored by saying that!  Browne repeatedly shouted 'hallelujah' and the audience dutifully copied him.

Someone 'prophesied' that there would be universal unity and a joining of all ministries.  He kept adding "said God" and claimed that these were the last days.  Thus proving himself to be a liar and a fraud, for God's word says that the last days would bring mass apostasy!  However, his 'prophecy' about unity was correct, for this would be the sign of Satan's day!  Unity will be the sign of God's judgement.

A South African group played rock music and sang a freedom song!  In the song they thanked God for the new (communist!) leadership.  Then another rock-song 'to God'.  Audience stood and joined in and all danced the 'chagula' (not sure of spelling), some throwing themselves about with abandon.  Basically this was just like a rock concert.  Indeed, during the long 'service', Browne twice referred to what was happening as "the show". There was much clapping, whistling and screaming.  One speaker called it "this great thing", saying that it was equal to the incident of Moses and the burning bush!

At one amazing point in the proceedings the governor of  Kentucky sent an official to welcome Browne.  He presented him with a big certificate and made him an honorary colonel!  After that he asked everyone to pray for him and Browne, that they might be asked to visit the President, so that they may pass on the 'Blessing' to him, too. I dread to imagine what would happen if the most powerful man on earth started to laugh uncontrollably - he is hardly ideal without it!

Soon after this Browne said "Thank you Jesus" several times, but he was laughing as he spoke. Then "Aren't we having fun tonight?" and "If you leave now you won't see the fireworks...and we're going to end with the fireworks, so you don't want to leave now...".  The 'fireworks' did indeed come, and they sickened me!

Another singer got up, saying "This is history" (the meeting).  As he sang the audience stood waving arms and clapping, as if in a concert.

Like a pantomime reaching its conclusion, there followed a 'video presentation' of clips resembling an advertisement for soap, set to rousing music.  Afterward, Browne called on everyone to "step over into the realm of the supernatural" and in the middle of a so-called 'prophecy' he shouted "Ah - Ha - Ha - Ha.....Ha - Ha....to drink, to drink...Ha - Ha - Ha" several times, plus some unintelligible garbage. What followed was the 'fireworks' - like a stage act, but far more dangerous.

Browne and a leader shouted and talked with 'tongues' to each other - did they learn the Klingon language from Star Trek?  Indeed, there was a plethora of 'tongues'.  Browne called to a man "Take a deep breath - take a deep drink of the Holy Ghost" and the man falls down, backwards.  With another man, Browne prayed for the 'fire' to come to him - and he began to jump up and down like a firecracker.  A significant thing was the way Browne placed his hand on a person's abdomen on a number of occasions.

Another 'prophecy' to "cast off religion" in a strange tone. Followed by another travesty of 'prophecy': (shouted out loud, accompanied by excited screaming - yes, screaming - from the audience, who were by now jumping up and down) "You are seeing my face - you are seeing into the spirit realm...you are seeing clearly into the spirit realm...it is good says the Lord...the angels are seeing what you are seeing...Oh! Ho!...Look, look...Oh! Ha! Ha! Ha! Ha!...You are moving into the realm...you are moving HIGHER into the spirit realm...you are being lifted into the realm of the dynamics of the revelation knowledge of God...Hear the word of the...Spirit.  It is talking to you now!"  Then "For fear some have refused to step over...Run...RUN with the limb of God." (He shouts this latter phrase to a man's chest! The man then made stupid 'running' movements, rather like a puppet being pulled by strings).  Now, note something important here - the use of the proper names of demonic beings, e.g. Ho and Ha; continuous reference to the 'spirit realm'; calling the Holy Spirit an impersonal "it". These are all signs of demonic activity, friends.  These are not the words of God.  The episode described above was frightening to watch, sending a cold shiver down my spine.  It's evil was crystal clear.   What was it, but Satan laughing at the audience and proclaiming his power over them?  He was bluntly and openly declaring the presence of the 'spirit realm' and 'the supernatural'.  What more do people want to bring them to their knees for getting involved in the demonic?

Browne shouts "O...O..." etc., with loud laughing and an evil facial expression.  One man speaks but no sound comes forth.  At this Browne laughs, again sounding and looking evil; then he says "It's in YIELDING, not in putting of hands upon you."  But, yielding to WHO?

Then followed antics that I can only call pathetic and stupid.  Certainly not 'holy'!  People were laying and rolling on the stage - reminded me of a plate-spinning act where the performer has to keep touching the plates to make them spin.

A leader, Kenneth Copeland, looking (literally) like a 'man possessed', began to use 'tongues', using a very strong, loud voice, pacing back and forth. He placed his hands on Browne's back and abdomen and Browne fell down as if unconscious.  Copeland leaned over him and spoke to him, with a mixture of 'tongues' and English.  Now and then Browne chuckled quietly to himself as Copeland spoke.  This was not visible to the audience and it was only just caught on camera.

Copeland said of the future "This is only the beginning...there's far more to come".  He then 'prophesied'..."to fill the churches and clean the streets" (??).  I can assure readers that Copeland was speaking the truth when he said there was far more to come.  Satan was repeating scripture, which tells us that he will come with powerful signs and wonders, such as have never been witnessed before.  That is how he will take people away from the true religion and toward destruction.  The impression I received of Copeland was that of a very evil man.

Oral Roberts came on the stage to Browne.  His speech to Browne was pathetic in its submissive attitude and tone.  "I know who you are - raised up from a new kind of seed...with a new kind of revelation...that those in the spirit will know what it is...those not in the spirit will not know".  Do you recognise what is being said here?  A "new kind of seed"?  In scripture there is only one kind of holy seed - yet here Browne is said to be of a different seed!  In scripture there is only one revelation of the Lord.  But here, Browne is said to bring a "new kind" of revelation...a different one!  Furthermore, listeners to this demonic statement are told that only those 'in the spirit' will understand what is happening.  The 'spirit' spoken on here is an evil spirit!  Let those Believers with discernment recognise what is going on.

Roberts then said "You are the fresh wave.  It's not something you're doing..."  (That is true - it is the doing of Satan).  He touches Browne on the face and Browne slides sideways.  Then the speaker makes a sound like a man having a heart-attack and he falls to the ground.  He is 75 years of age.

The whole episode with Copeland was farcical yet supremely evil, as both men shouted to each other in 'tongues', to growing excited applause and screaming from the audience.  It would be easy to say that it was just an elaborate stage act.  Indeed, I would prefer to say it was just an act, but I cannot!  All my senses and discernment tells me that I was watching a demonic dialogue.  Both men appeared to understand each other, as they babbled on.  There was immense power in the scene as both men strode about.  The dynamics were electric.  If any scene is to scare off would-be visitors to a 'Blessing' meeting, then this is it!  But the problem is that those who attend have an inadequate knowledge and understanding to begin with, so they accept what they see as being of God!  In the story of Pinocchio, the puppet became enmeshed in evil, but he finally emerged as new, as a real boy, safe in the arms of his father.  Whilst the Toronto Blessing (and its coming, fresh, charismatic wave) resembles the story of Pinocchio in many ways, the outcome is not likely to be a happy one, for people are jumping out of the arms of the Father and into the 'fire' of Satan.  They refuse to listen to sense and to scripture.  Like the wooden puppet, they are being drawn willingly into sin and into Satan's carnival.  Unlike the puppet, they lose their ability to return, unless the Lord graciously saves them from their evil.

Browne puts his hand on Oral Roberts' abdomen and the man laughs uncontrollably before he slumps to the ground...the man said "As you touched my belly...Jesus said 'out of my belly shall flow rivers of living water'...and it's been moving in me for some time now...only a man of God that's been freshly called can say a word to me now..."  Browne placed his hand on the man's belly again and 'prophesied' that he would "not yet die" but would regain his youth "as an eagle...a mighty wave of evangelists are being raised up...a new breed...(who have) broken the mold...".  A new breed indeed!  Some time ago Browne introduced his own brother on a TV station, saying that he was to head this 'new breed' of evangelists, whose prime purpose is to keep alive the new spirit engendered by the Toronto Blessing.  Yes, there is a new wave coming, and it will be more powerful than the first.  Only those who are faithful to the Lord will withstand.  As in the myth, cover your ears against the wiles of the Sirens, or be dashed to your death on the rocks!  Satan will come with open offers of power and signs and wonders.  Many will be tempted and will fall.  Be warned, friends, for the time is close.

In response to this, Roberts 'prophesied' back to Browne that he should "remain simple" and that he should "do it just like this until I tell you to do it another way...much ploughing is about to happen...the Lord has put a new seed into you to plant.".  Notice the use of the word "I" as the 'prophecy' is supposed to come direct from God.  The 'ploughing' is not that of the Holy Spirit, which gives an harvest - it is the ploughing under of what the Lord has done...it is the overturning of good, as evil replaces it.  The 'new seed' is different from the seed of the Holy Spirit - this has been repeated openly - it is the seed of Satan, corrupt and deadly.

This has been a long report.  It is based entirely on what was observed in an actual Brown meeting.  It contains an abundance of evidence as to the real source of the Toronto Blessing, which is so plain as to be painful.  Those who now choose to ignore the evidence, do so at their peril.  Stop up your ears to the charm of sensual offers made by demons!  Turn to the Lord and pray for deliverance and to be kept in His arms.  The alternative is too horrific to imagine.

* A young man who is not a Christian, watched a short part of this video.  He quickly complained of feeling shaky, sweaty and uneasy.  Then he left the room, saying that he could not watch any more of it, and never wanted to in future, because he sensed it was 'evil'! We did not prompt him.
